Good to know. Bit surprised the promoter didn't offer reduced fares for late bookings to try to fill the train.

Sad to see some idiots out again today for Scotsman. Video captures from a clip on Instagram earlier: Screenshot_20220305-182129_1.jpg Screenshot_20220305-182152_1.jpg

Purring along nicely at Besford in some lovely late winter light. Looking forward to the Sapperton footage, unless BTP have made another appearance.

Given that a certain friend of the viral Francis Bourgeois got a shot at the tunnel top location, which for the last 2 occasions has had the BTP clear photographers from, it seems not!

Just received news that Scotsman has failed at Slough. Poor quality coal. All service trains are being diverted around her through Platform 4. 1Z99 on its way

Disappointing to hear this. A video I watched on social media from Sapperton earlier showed a very good climb of the bank. Were they held up anywhere after this to cause problems with the fire?

It’s possible that the contents of the tender was not all from the same batch of coal

And IF it was a problem with the coal then it's not very fair to point the finger at the loco or the footplate crew, as some are likely to do, without the full facts.

Here's my footage of Flying Scotsman at speed with the Cotswold Venturer yesterday. The first shot was near Chipping Campden before flying through Ashchurch in the evening doing at least 70mph+. Also included is 7029 Clun Castle with the Welsh Marches Express. I hope you enjoy the video.

And stop/start travelling - some of which is inevitable with water stops and pathing loops etc - does little for creating a continuous steam supply. Crews have to be conjurors these days as much as knowledgeable locomen.

Decent run from Stonehouse. Friend on train sent me: Stonehouse 43.5; Stroud 48.1 and into Sapperton Tunnel at 28.4.

From reviewing RTT it looks like it made for some interesting moves at Slough, I guess since Crossrail works Platform 4 must now be bidirectional so some rare track for some.
The real losers seem to be those on 2P73 that were a minute late leaving Burnham and 27 minutes late leaving Slough. Also seemed to impact down trains as well, I guess due to conflicting moves.
