    Afternoon All,

As it was a nice day yesterday, we had a short walk by the Basingstoke Canal at the Mytchett Canal Centre in west Surrey:

When I was in training in the Royal Engineers at Cove near Farnborough back in 1978.
We were volunteered as slave labour for a week to rebuild some of the canal bank near there.
I think it was about 200m of sandbag walling with dry mix concrete instead of sand.
Also puddling clay to seal behind the wall.

No I do not currently volunteer
I was bought up in a house in Fleet, about 300 yards from the Basingstoke Canal.
I used to cycle the towpath every day to go to school.
