Much gnashing from the self entitled that sees their trip to Colton junction likely to have the diesel leading and 6233 on the back.

I presume the reversal at Selby is easier and saves time rather than into York and the turntable.

I love how the Royal Scot headboard makes an appearance everytime the Duchess heads along the ECML.

Here's 6233 approaching Newark Northgate this morning going well, which looks circa 75 mph.

Nice capture, lovely Duchess purr there, well on top of the job - minimal effort.

Why would you need to send the ecs back to London? Surely the whole train is booked to return to Kings Cross, or am i missing something?

Stock is kept at Southall, but often only goes to Acton Lane when the GWML has engineering work and then goes to Southall Sunday or Monday. In this case it is as 5Z90 at 07:25 off Acton Lane Monday morning arriving Southall at 08:28.

It does highlight railtours are often not a simple one day operation.

Also another good point on this tour has 46229 or 46233 ever been through Selby before in heritage mainline steam preservation history? Or pre 1968 has a Duchess coronation class ever passed via selby en route to Hull or York?
