    Hello,

Just wondering what 2022 is looking like in terms of locos being withdrawn, and those entering traffic following overhaul or restoration?

Thought it might be handy to create a thread.

    Regards

    Chris

Reported position at the SVR, with more than the usual caveats:

End of ticket will be 1501 and 2857.
Hoped to return during 2022 are 4930 Hagley Hall and Stanier mogul 13268 (Bridgnorth) and 7812 Erlestoke Manor (Tyseley).

For completeness, not expected out in 2022 are 7802 Bradley Manor (TYS, EMF indicate will take longer), 82045 (hoped for 2023), 4150 (no date I've seen) and Dunrobin (contract loco, for Beamish). Preparations for the closure of Bridgnorth Loco Works (from May for several months) will impact on progress.

43106's boiler ticket is due out in 2023 but it has been reported as mechanically tired and with thin tyres

On the subject of Crewe, isn't 60532 due back during 2022 if all goes well?

Elsewhere, 5043 and 71000 are due back into service at Tyseley, I don't know whether or not 4936 will be joining them.

Hopefully 2022 will also see the return of 2807 at the GWSR.

At Middleton, NER class H no. 1310 bows out in May, hopefully to be replaced by Manning Wardle class L no. 1210 ‘Sir Berkeley’. One 1890’s loco with another.

What is the situation at the NYMR? Presumably 30926 will return after missing 2021, but will 75029 reappear in 2022? I doubt if 34101 will. 61264 is the big question but there seems to be nothing happening and no news. I don't think there is anything due for withdrawal.

I believe 43924 on the KWVR has been granted an extension to its boiler certificate, but as it already has a few superheater elements blocked off, it may be withdrawn pretty soon. It's hard to believe it's 10 years since it re-entered traffic!
I don't know if it will see traffic in 2022, but I've heard that 80002 will be the next back into service, and with a new copper inner firebox too instead of the steel one, which has had problems with star fractures whilst in service.

    Richard.

43924 did get an extension which will expire next Friday. Can't get a further extension onto a extension so will be going out for overhaul.

Hope it's a fairly quick turnaround with as few hidden nasties as possible.

Is Royal Scot due to be doing any more work before withdrawal? She is an engine I have always wanted to see, but sadly she has always managed to elude me!

I don't know. If its planned to get a years extension till 2023 (read in a previous Steam Railway Mag from 2019/20) then there is a fair few opportunities.

With 80002 still complete and requiring a full overhaul ,whilst 90733 and 75078 are currently undergoing overhaul I doubt your source .

What replaces 34092 if it dosent get a extension on its boiler ticket and 5643, cos there is only 51456 and 52322 and 47298 running at the E.L.R. come the backend of 2022 unless 46428 or 42765 the Hughes Fowler crab comes back into service (which I doubt not for the latter). And also the industrial tanky 0.6.0. bagnall the duke is back soon been overhauled at the Ecclesbourne valley line and is Jinty 16440 at Midland railway centre due back? After having a overhaul at the E.L.R. by riley engineering.
