There were quite a few families out south of Barrow Hill as we headed for Tyseley on Wednesday who perhaps weren't aware of the change in the itinerary meaning 46233 had to head back to York for another job. Is anyone aware if yesterday's alteration to have the 47 pilot Clun from Barrow Hill was planned or an issue with the loco?

I was sent a timing sheet for yesterday's trip and it looked like the piloting was planned

Thanks for the info. My attention yesterday was focused on the 46100 failure as a friend of mine was on it and I was trying to plan how to get him home. As it was, with lack of traction changes, a bulk of time was recovered and I could stand down.
To everyone on the threads, thanks for all the info throughout the year and more than ever keep safe and steamy.

I believe it was planned due to the steam driver being out of hours.

Absolutely marvellous day out with Vintage Trains yesterday on the ‘Christmas White Rose’. Fabulous performance from 7029, ‘Clun Castle’, with an honourable mention to 47773 for its work on the return leg after Barrow Hill.

Good few hours in York for a leg stretch and a bite to eat, and our non-enthusiast friends enjoyed their first railtour.

Attached a few photos from York prior to departure.

Diesel leading from Barrow Hill was planned on both York trips. The difference in piloting being 6233’s involvement in another charter on Thursday requiring a return to York, whereas 7029 was coming back to Tyseley. Nothing wrong with Clun, was simply operational.

A great run north from 7029 yesterday with a great and rare mainline sprint out of Birmingham to Tamworth. The Duchess tops the video off nicely with a lively run northbound from Donny with the sounds of the coal pusher in full voice !

VT have announced Welsh Marches and Chester trains for March.

Sadly they're still not publishing provisional times. :-(
