But it does follow the precedent for incongruous locomotive pairings that were seen on these railtours... Anyway, there should plenty else to satisfy the thirsts of the purists over the nine days, and not forgetting the photo charters :)

The D49/B1 combination will look nice and is planned for the gala.

There should be a Dukedog in Wales again by now... first time in around half a century! ETA was around 10am this morning.

could anyone tell me what's going to happen with regards to the bufferbeam numbers, the bufferbeams were repainted when the loco was at the SVR by John Gittings, including the sign writing of the numbers in the right font, with such a fresh paint job, it would be a shame to paint over them...

I think it was Dave Giddins that painted them (EMF Group and 5029). He is coming on Tuesday to help rub down the Loco for repainting; have a guess which part I will ask him to rub down!

Sorry mate it has to be right, we've gone through hell to get this far!

Perhaps he could paint them back on when the loco is returned to GWR green or even GWR black?

    Regards,

    Dan

The high quality paint job on the buffer beams & front numbers were applied by John Gittings & Andy Williams at Bridgnorth with preperation assistance from Dave Giddings.Seems a shame to destroy this so early but the real question is can it be replaced to this standard?

Today 9017 was at the back of Pentrefelin Carriage and Wagon shed being cleaned ready for its imminent repaint. A beautiful sight to see it in a Welsh Valley, and I cant wait to see it in steam. Picture shows it this afternoon, just out of shot is the large puddle of drool left by Llangollen footplate crews viewing it today...!!!! =P~ =P~ =P~ \:D/

And here it is together on shed at Llangollen.

Well it has been a busy old weekend but she on the Llangollen and safely locked up down at Pentrefelin where she will be repainted before being rolled out again.
I had fun playing with traffic and we can't thank the lads from the Talyllyn Railway who came down to help repaint it enough for all there hard work over the last two days.

Just spent the day helping to degrease 9017's paintwork in readiness for the rubbing down and painting sessions this coming week. She also looks better now the LHS nameplate brackets have been removed.

What are you actually saying here? That because the SVR painted on the numbers to the bufferbeam Autumn 2008, the loco shouldn't be painted into it's correct BR period livery until you have had your money's worth!

"Can it be replaced to this standard?" So you are now questioning the Bluebell's painters ability to repaint the GWR Livery after its return. Not sure what they will make of that, but I know I would't be happy if I was them.

Instead of carping on about your precious numbers, why can't you just be grateful that the Bluebell Railway are letting enthusiasts see a BR Black Dukedog back on her home ground, after a long wait. Over 300 photographers are happy, we are happy, what's your problem?

After all that has gone on, which is not to be written on here I am pleased to say Mr Perfections and Mine attempt at bringing 9017 back home has finally come to an end now we have to make best use of her short stay starting with two weeks in makeup

    Touchdown

From Southport - in LANCASHIRE - which is geographically nearer to Preston than Liverpool; methinks someone needs to improve their geography as it's almost like suggesting that someone from Wrexham comes from Chester !
