Fresh from Overhaul, 47298 departing Rawtenstall at lunchtime on Friday, shame the exhaust colour matches the clouds!

Any news if the jinty 47298 is running tomorrow? Or are we all going to be kept in suspense until the 2022 winter or spring steam gala? So I heard today the 3F 47298 failed with a hot axle box on friday 15 sept, but anyhow I still managed to ride behind 5643 taffy tanky from Heywood to bury and rode 41312 ivatt tanky on a round trip from Bury to Heywood and back to Rammy then I got a ride on 52322 to Heywood and back to Rammy with 80097 from Bury and homeward bound to Heywood on 5643 so I copped 4 out of 8 of the loco,s scheduled to run at the E.L.R. autumn 2021 steam gala despite the jinty failing on friday I hope everyone on nat pres and other steam enthusiasts enjoyed the autumn 2021 steam gala so far, heres my pic of visiting ivatt 41312 courtesy of the mid Hants railway at Heywood today.

Shame about the Jinty going down but seeing the Lanky tank was my highlight yesterday (hopefully I'll be back in the near future for a ride behind it). Was hoping to catch the first freight of the day with the two L&Y locos but a call for sustenance was made so I heard it leave before I got to the platform. It was quite incredible to watch and hear the Ivatt struggle round the Bury curve though. I usually stick out for shooting film but there were a lot more than I expected.

I noticed as well at Rammy a mill chimney and mill have been pulled down north of Rammy station on the eastern side of the E.L.R.

What a gala! One of the best I've ever been to. Everything put on a great show. The award for noise has to be a split decision between 41312 and 5643. 7820, 51456, 52322, 80097 and 34092 all put in some ear-shattering runs, too. Fantastic weather and a friendly atmosphere also contributed to make this a thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

Tongue in cheek but, if you hire a Manor, does the contract stipulate you have to have a CCE headboard too?!

I had a very enjoyable day on Friday. I managed to catch the Jinty before it failed, but my personal highlights were 5643 & 7820 double heading and 80097 being in fine fettle

When the hirer asks for one... Didn't run with it yesterday afternoon or today for a bit of variety.

Thanks to the ELR for asking to hire 7820, it was all rather last minute but we were glad to have been able to help, we have enjoyed ourselves immensely. She seems to have gone down very well there, the only issue is they now want to keep it.....

Would have been quite happy to have seen a "Pines Express" headboard on the 41312 +34092 double header, quite prototypical combination and on single track.
