The railway owns Rowley farm and uses it for some storage/signal construction etc

The Rowley Farm site was purchased by the railway in 2014. Our news report detailing the purchase can still be accessed on the L&BR website.

Tom, would you know whether the Bluebell Railway print Edmondson tickets for other heritage railways?

    Spot on!

Apparently we do print for other organisations as well. The biggest issue is getting the card blanks.

The information you ask for already includes the update you request. To view the relevant map, under the main heading "Station Layer" click on the sub-item "L&B Lower Rowley".

Click here to see the relevant Google Map.

I understand that due to the delay some investors may have cashed in their shares for a refund so this may be the reason?

When I followed that link it seemed merely to invite people to register. It did not appear to cater for those who might have registered already and were now ready to invest.

How is that possible? Once you have bought your shares, all you can do is sell them to someone else. You don't get your money back from the company.

The website merely asks you to register an interest - I don't know what happens after that. However, he fact that this is back 'on the agenda' suggests that a purchase is again a possibility. I don't think it helps the railways aspirations in this area to speculate further.

according to a few investors that have spoken to me they haven't received any shares as yet so no reason why they cant ask for their money back if they wished,a couple of them have gone as far to say the only proof they have of investing is that its on their bank statement, one has to guess that all monies are in a holding account until the blackmoor company is in a position financially to make the purchase of the OSHI and then shares will be issued

From further back in the thread I recollect this is a sensitive issue where the owners got a commercial valuation with was more than the railway offered and wanted assurance the staff will keep ongoing employment which means the inn building could not close for rebuilding, so the owners decided to not to sell. Unless things change the line will now have to be on land brought to the north of the old station building with new platforms, and should not be speculated on.

AIUI the intention is to build the line on a new alignment with new platforms regardless of whether the L&BR acquires the old station or not.

If the station is acquired the intention - despite some negative media comments to the contrary - is to continue to run the existing 'hospitality' business as a 'going concern'. As the restaurant area has expanded to cover the site of the old platforms, it would be counter-productive to have to demolish it - and then build a new one - simply to retain the old alignment when a new trackbed is perfectly feasible.

Given that the L&BT has announced on the web that it is reopening the call for investments to make this purchase, I don't see how discussions here about that fact can be viewed as 'sensitive' or 'speculative'.

We made a trip to the L&B whilst on our jollies to the West Country this summer, friendly bunch as you would expect, a few shots on a grey drizzly morning. P1130243.JPG P1130244.JPG P1130247.JPG P1130236.JPG
