The standard of finish looks absolutely superb! Well done to the restoration team - I'm sure that if Stanier himself could see that, he'd have a broad smile on his face, being his favourite design as well.

Just lovely. I don't think I ever saw 5025 in service and if I did I don't remember it. Theres a photo of me standing in front of it circa 93/94 in the shed during a Thomas event so to see her alive and kicking makes me incredibly happy. All credit to Nathan and the team!

Stunning! The team ought to be very proud of this. And who doesn't love a profile shot! Looking forwards to the next trip up the road.

The only thing to moan about there was the weather.

She looks fantastic. And by coincidence we're on holiday in the area that week, so have booked for a trip behind her later that week.

On a side note, are the sheds at Aviemore open to the public, or to get any photos of the loco on shed at the end of the day?

The sheds are not open to the public, although we have been known to respond to a polite request. If you walk along Dalfaber road to the shed gate, (not to be confused with the coal bench gate) you are roughly 50 feet from the ash pit where the loco has its disposal.

    Is that a GWR/BR injector?

Does anyone know the history of the tighter LMS letter spacing on the tender of 5025? Was it a region thing, an LMS standard that didn't last or something else?

I think it was the livery interpretation by the Vulcan Foundry. The lining on the cab was also different from the Crewe built engines with the lining going round the side window opening. They also supplied their engines with polished wheel rims, cylinder/valve covers and smokebox straps and hinges. On locos from other builders of LMS engines they were painted black.

Seems a bit of an odd choice when a lot of effort has gone into making the loco as original as possible.
Having said that, I can well understand the decision to do away with the LMS injectors. ;)
