Yes - I was responding to the newspaper article which noted his change of employment but in terms that didn't reflect his current relationship with the many heritage groups that he has been involved with; i.e. whether his new employment is full time and what effect it will have on his current (valued) commitments to the heritage movement.

An impressive operation to witness! Special shout out to the guys using pinch bars ... that's no mean feat to move SNG over that distance! Well done to the whole team!

Bit sad to see the Stirling Single behind, covered in dust. The subject of a beautiful restoration of the original G.N.R. type tender only a few years back, surely it should be in the main hall on display?

The time at York draws to a close, the distinctive lines appear further.

That's a combo which does 'go' particularly well IMO.

Great to see 60007 coming back together! I still can't believe the NRM is turning the workshop area into a bloody kids' playground though, they really have lost the plot. Don't think I'll be visiting anytime soon.

Can't but think they've missed a chance of turning here out in Apple Green or Silver Grey. OK I know none of the survivors ran in either livery............... Thankfully she's staying Blue though.

I know it said that the loco had to be out the museum workshop by the 20th August, does that mean it'll be leaving on that date or slightly earlier?

The world has far too much apple green paint. Horrible insipid colour. BR Express Blue is just the ticket.

Granted they always looked better in Blue. Still I remember seeing Bittern what 35 years ago in the original two tone Grey as Silver Link and thinking WOW! No wonder folk were so shocked/surprised. Too much apple green, just like Mr Stroudley's improved locomotive green it's an improvement on cow pat green from Swindon. What's more how many locomotives are turned out in apple green, by the way? Precious few...... Though there again I keep forgetting that the Public Railways of the UK didn't exist pre January 1st 1948

Provided it's kept clean, Wartime black provided dramatic images. All reports indicate that after November 1941 and before February 1944, every A4 locomotive received the black livery.

That would be stunning.....Black undercoat for running in like 4472 would seem like an opportunity not to be missed!
