With the standard tank its a very smooth confident pull and acceleration. With the Lanky Tank you can feel every cylinder stroke translated back through the stock, a definite "yes I can, yes I can".:D Wonderful stuff.

Snowplough No. 9 in use today, couple of shots at Bolton Street whilst I dropped some books off. Driver a little enthusiastic with the drain cocks nearly did the said to the shot! P1130106.JPG P1130107.JPG

Had a quick trip to Ramsbottom yesterday to see 60009.
Saw also an unusual embellishment on the front of 33109 and a very nice ex Leeds City Transport 1962 Daimler double decker bus which was on wedding duties. 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg 5.jpg

A bit like toy story with the Class 33. Many years ago (groan!) one of the J94 type Hunslets at Bickershaw has a teddy impaled on the top lamp bracket, uncomfortable ride!

I didn't notice it until I got home, it wasn't on when 33109 ran in.
The first photo below is the one I enlarged and the second one is of 33109 arriving at Ramsbottom.

Saw a post on a Facebook group that says 60009 and 60103 will be providing the steam haulage this weekend. Don't shoot the messenger though if this turns out to be duff gen.

Thanks, it's a report I had seen a while ago also, be great if it happens. Don't mind FS facing south, gives a few alternative shots, mix things up a bit with UoSA facing north.
Edit - email flyer from ELR suggests the other loco this weekend is UoSA.

Sorry, late to the party but isn't that a Bully from Bullseye? It used to be on ITV - with Jim Bowen. Famed for 'Here's what you would have won...' which was always a really nice prize and if you did win it would be stuff like his and hers towels.

Couldn't get there Friday (had to work!!) and didn't fancy Sunday with sun on a north-south line, so a hand full of images from Saturday, UoSA didn't show, City of Wells instead, no problem. FS just shuffled along all day, not surprising with no stops, what a set of scruffy looking coaches, but probably due to lack of hands as a result of COVID. I had an enjoyable FS outing on Sunday afternoon with my family. There is a lot to like at the East Lancs. We parked easily at Heywood and used the DMU shuttle (‘they all vibrate like that Sir, it’s a feature not a fault’). Glorious weather and a bustling Bury station. It was a well organised and successful day from my perspective.

The maroon rake had an impressive number of coaches but yes it looked a little tired. The interior of my coach was OK though. I’m not criticising the railway, it has achieved a lot in the circumstances. I can’t comment on the stock used for the dining trains but the ELR has a significant catering operation so hopefully the coaches are suitably impressive.

A brief visit to Irwell Vale this afternoon, 23rd October, to see 7820 'Dinmore Manor' before she goes home.

There has been a lot of talk in the past about using the ELR as a rail commuter route from Rawtenstall into Manchester. The ELR runs from Rawtenstall southwards to Bury
Bolton Street station where it then heads east to Heywood. A line carries on south from Bolton Street to the ELR's workshops at Buckley Wells. Beyond is a connection to the Greater Manchester Metrolink tram system which runs from Bury to Manchester Victoria and was once part of BR. I think the idea is to link the two together to form a through route from Rossendale into the city centre. I could be wrong (I usually am!:)) but I don't think the ELR owns the trackbed to Rawtenstall, I think the local council own it and lease it to the ELR. Maybe someone on here knows and could correct me.
