Looking forward to sampling the run to the seaside next month, first time going full dining for 2 with my mrs. First trip behind the jube too, a Waverley with friends in August is the icing on the cake as so to speak.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Galatea's new "partial" identity change yet?

    Don't be so impatient, Ian!

Identity crisis for a Jubilee. 45699 Galatea/45562 Alberta is now transitioning to 45627 Sierra Leone, but the transition has not reached the cabside yet. The hybrid, which I suppose will become known as 'Galbertierra', stands at York with today's SSE.

No identity problem here, provided you don't look too closely at the nameplate. The trans Jubilee crosses the Ouse as it leaves York for Scarborough.

That brings back memories. I rode from Lancaster to Glasgow behind 45627 in September 1964. She was in terrible condition both out and in.
I think the load was 9 bogies and speed was down to walking pace at Shap Summit as we didn't take a banker. The fresh crew from Carlisle took no chances
and we took a banker up Beattock. Arrival in Glasgow Central was 1 hour 30 minutes down. Happy days!:)

Having already taken a side-on shot of "45562" this morning, I chose a more head-on position for "45627" at Howsham Gates this afternoon. Two Jubilees for the price of one!

It's only a name and number but bank hall favourite 45698 Mars would be a welcome candidate at some point in the future... Please!

Not forgetting the other two Bank Hall favourites, 45717 Dauntless and 45719 Glorious. The three Jubilees were regular performers on the 10-30 Liverpool Exchange - Newcastle along with Patriot 45517. Oh for a time machine!:)

And these are my shots of 45627 on the aforesaid Lancaster-Glasgow run. Struggling up Shap and then climbing Beattock.

Maybe I'm a bit odd here, but now this engine has been painted in green, I can't wait to see her resume her proper identity as 45699.

Correct, allocated to Newton Heath. And I would really like to see it as Galatea in green, after all they don't swap 46115's identity.

But surely only at Newton Heath to 1937. A Midland Jubilee allocated to Derby, Nottingham, Holbeck, thirteen years at Barrow Road before ending its career at Shrewsbury.

    Not entirely true.
On 6th September 2009, 46115 hauled the St Helens Girl Guiding Express (on Uksteam as RYTC Yorkshire Scot) and while the number wasn't changed to 46168 she carried nameplates as 'The Girl Guide', unfortunately my shots from the day don't show it but there is at least one on Flickr.
