Bagnall 401 passed its boiler test today so will be representing the home fleet.

Two guest locos to be announced.

30th anniversary of the railway and museum.

Last took a photo of J27's at Percy Main 57 years ago, hope to get up there for a second visit. An intensive timetable of freight and passenger trains is advertised but as yet no timetable is shown. It's a long drive there and back and wouldn't want to miss the J27 on a freight.

Thanks for that. Be there Saturday pm and leave after Sunday's 14.55 freight and be back on Merseyside in time for the match!

Rather odd to have over a 2 hour gap in the passenger service each afternoon.

Led to believe that when thie J27 was loaded at the NYMR before moving, The boiler was emptied of water prior.
Not noticed this being done before.
    Is this usual practice?

As the loco had been in steam recently it seems a waste of a boiler full of warm water.

presumably reduces the overall weight and axle loading . I do recall one engine on the move that got impounded as over the axle load for the route . Had to empty boiler

The photos on the Grosmont MPD Facebook page appear to show a (relatively) small three axle trailer, so trying to remove unnecessary weight makes sense.

A few images from Sunday (video to follow tomorrow, which I believe is the actual 3oth Anniversary). An excellent event, we thoroughly enjoyed our day, had visited the museum before on a non-operating day and glad we made the effort to come for the gala. Enjoyed a couple of journeys between linesiding, with the double headed industrials making a particularly memory attack of the bank.

As others have already added various photos and video clips taken over the weekend. Here goes with my video offerings taken on the Friday of the event. Whilst not perhaps brilliant they are some of my first attempts with my new toy that I bought in the run up to Christmas.
