Join us for our first 3 day Mixed Traction Gala featuring 4 locomotives in action including a visiting steam locomotive - Kitson 5459 Austin 1 from the Llangollen Railway.

On Friday there will be the chance to ride on the freight train hauled by 7109 'Joyce' with Class 03 D2128 on the rear from 10:30 until 15:30 along with some shunting at the end of the day. Austin 1 will be on static display in the yard for you to look at.

On the Saturday and Sunday of the event there will be an intense timetable with both freight and passenger trains and there will be the opportunity to ride on the freight train at selected times throughout the day. All 4 locomotives will be in use all day from 10:00 until 17:00. The main passenger train will run for 5 sessions per day at 10:00, 11:35, 13:10,14:45 and 16:15. Each session includes two trips along our line and last about 50 minutes. The passenger freight train rides will be at 11:00,12:35,14:10 and 15:25 per day.

The visiting loco will operate these trains each day - 11:00 Freight train, 11:35 passenger train, 14:45 passenger train and the 16:15 passenger train which will be triple headed (That’s 3 locomotives at the front!)

Our Class 08 D4095 will remain at the back of the passenger train all day.
Steam Sentinel 7109 Joyce and Class 03 D2128 will be taking it in turns to haul the other trains on the day.

The station shop and buffet will be open between 10:00 and 15:30 so if you're booked on the first or last trains then please bear this in mind when planning your visit and we recommend that you check on the day to confirm actual times as these may vary.

We have Covid secure measures in place to ensure you're as safe as possible when you ride our trains. This includes a one-way system on and off our trains and we ensure that the train is thoroughly cleaned between each session. If you have booked an all-day rover ticket your compartment will not be cleaned between each session unless you request this. We also have Covid marshals to make sure everyone is keeping to social distancing rules and they will also help book you in on the day. We ask that all members of the public wear masks when walking on and off our trains and if you book a ticket and select the open carriage option then we require you to wear a mask at all times unless of course you're consuming food & drink available from the buffet. If you select the compartment option where your group is self-contained then masks can be removed once you are all in the compartment together and the sliding door is shut.

We look forward to welcoming you to this event which is our biggest gala yet!
