I would’ve thought Laindon, South Croydon and Nutfield would be the water stops outside of layovers?

South Croydon could only be a water stop if there is a hydrant on the platform. The staircase to the road from the south end of platforms 4 and 5 went many years ago.

Thinking of all the tours that have gone to Eastbourne before can’t remember any taking water on the Victoria to Eastbourne leg, suspect water will be taken at Eastbourne

That’s a long way from Southend on one tank of water

Erm - Southend to Eastbourne (not even Southend Victoria!).

I had wondered why Victoria was mentioned.

Easily done - Victoria to Eastbourne is a much more brain-friendly route than Southend! I still think a quick slurp at CJ p17 may be on the cards - a bit of entertainment for the 'normal' passengers waiting at adjacent platforms there! It's 9 minutes there, not the 11 I previously mistakenly quoted, BTW. Laindon just seems a little too early in the journey to be worthwhile. It'll be interesting to see what actually transpires.

Anyone aware what the loco is for tomorrow’s Hastings tour? Website & Railway Herald says TBA - my parents want to go and watch!

A B1 at Redhill - many would think it's 'wrong' - but it happened (fairly famously) in 1964!

But you certainly wouldn't have seen a B1 between Bopeep Junction, St Leonard's and Tonbridge in 1964 - or any previous year for that matter!

Mayflower currently stopped outside Clapham Junction for an unknown reason.

EDIT: Was due to take water at clapham, no sign of the tanker so stuck outside platform 17!

Whilst I can guess where the access point might be for the tanker, this is one of the more problematic places to reach and then park up. Let's hope that the advance party has been out to clear the way.

I mentioned a while back that parking above the country end of p17 in the forecourt there and dropping a hose might be doable, but in only a 9 minute stop? Looking worrying at the moment with 1Z43 stopped for nearly 50 mins at Latchmere Jct. This has been an awful month for steam timekeeping on the SR so far, for various reasons. Let's hope for a resolution/workable revised plan for today.

Now an hour late. Hopefully she still has plenty in the tender after the earlier part of the journey.

Indeed, but I fear a tow back to NW London and termination may be on the cards. Hope not for all concerned.

Is it a reversible line into P17? Is there a crossover? Or would that mean a tour of Gipsy Hill and Tulse Hill?

Not looking great. Still no activity on RTT. The steam dreams on train twitter account is very quiet as well. Last updated 20th May! I thought this was used to update waiting passengers on the progress of their train?
