'Traksy' has the attached layout. Down trains can indeed get to p4 but not back again afterwards. Could be wrong too of course.

Yes, I wondered about that but thought it may be too far for 'wrong' line running. Could be the answer though.

Not sure why Traksy doesn't show this, but open train times shows a switch back to the "right line" after, so probably used that.

That'll be it - an error in Traksy. I wonder how many workings use that routeing. It's signalled for passenger use so must see some traffic.

Here's my footage of Flying Scotsman in action in Hampshire. I filmed her at Eastleigh, Mottisfont and Dunbridge and West Grimstead. I hope you enjoy the video.

Nice footage and managed to get me in all 3 locations. It was a good day with only 1 reported incident of trespass so I would say a good success. Scotsman was in fine form and performed faultlessly while I was onboard. It was an absolute pleasure working with a great crew.
A few shots I took from the day.
Photos taken at Basingstoke, Salisbury, Southampton and Basingstoke again on the return leg.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

You should have made yourself more known as we shared the support coach for most the day!

It appears next Thursday King's X - Cambridge - Norwich trips with 60103 are cancelled, according to a local Facebook group. Nothing official from SD or anywhere else yet though.

It has been noted elsewhere that there is a LE move coming up from Swanage and attaching to the Portsmouth charter at Eastleigh on Sunday, with a similar path back in the evening from Eastleigh. 31806 making a foray on to the mainline?

Do believe that Mayflower (provided its repaired in time) hauls the train solo from Paddington to Portsmouth (there are LE moves from Pad back to Southall indicating the diesel doesn't tag along), with 31806 joining on the back at Eastleigh on the way. Makes much more sense as the people on the London to Portsmouth run don't get a taste of the rear loco anyway, so the advertisement of top and tail steam is quite misleading. It came as a surprise when they did this run 2 years ago that Mayflower hauled both legs of that trip, while the Black 5 just tagged along for the ride so it was available for the Hampshire Countryside trip.

Edit: The Steam Dreams website also no longer advertises Top and Tail running for the Paddington to Portsmouth leg.

Having just received the timings it is as speculated. 61306 is solo from Paddington to Eastleigh where 31806 attaches to the rear of the train running top and tail to Portsmouth Harbour. 31806 then leads the service back via Netley to Brockenhurst. 61306 then heads the train back to Eastleigh where the train again reverses with 31806 leading to Portsmouth and Southsea. After being serviced in Fratton, the train heads to the Harbour from where 61306 heads the train back to Eastleigh where the U boat is removed and returns to Swanage. 61306 then takes the train solo back to Paddington.

I am going to have to venture out to see this very interesting ensemble somewhere around Southampton.

Note that the L||E Eastleigh - Swanage is routed via Romsey (RM) and Southampton (RM) to ensure 31806 arrives tender first to meet SR requirements.

    Cheers, Neil

Seems odd? Surely if it ran along the main line from Eastleigh through Southampton to Swanage, it would arrive T/F anyway?
Two reversals puts it back the same way as it was….?

She will arrive in Eastleigh with boiler facing Southampton / New Forest
Runs T/F from Eastleigh to Romsey
Runs forwards from Romsey to Southampton
Then runs T/F from Southampton back across the New Forest to Swanage
