Trecatty looked like a good engine it is a shame if it was scrapped. It would have been good in a museum . I expect his old drivers were mad

    More bits and pieces

    1. Aberaeron signal box being painted, and the new base is ready. Should hopefully be in position before we open.

    2. track work ongoing, two more panels due to be replaced this weekend. This should see us to opening.

    3. spear fencing now installed and painted

    4. New wooden fence panels.

    5. more door parts for GWR 216, the collection grows....

    Regards

    Matt

That makes sense, I have a vague memory that I read somewhere that GWR Lettered each door rather than numbered so that might explain where the H comes from ?

I’ve seen similar on LCDR carriages - carriage number and compartment letter.

    Correct
All doors have the coach number and door letter on them, normally just below the droplight. These panels seem to be part of the ventilators at the top of the door (old style stock).
3198 would be a third class coach, diagram C10, Lot 915 (which puts original coach as possibly late 19th century). http://mmrs.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/GW-coach-numbers.pdf

Let's go down the WW2 aircraft route, use that one part as a starting point and have a "restoration" of 3198...

It’s not travelling too far and is transferring to a preservation site, other than that I’ll have to leave it to the new owners to announce.

I hope it is going to conwil to help put the track bac the other way and meet up with the railway. That would be a good choice for the new owners. When will the announcement be?

More goings on as we head towards opening on Saturday. Of note is the pairing of two “valleys” engines, a first for us. Lots of site sorting, signs being erected, work continues on Aberaeron Signal box.

still time to book tickets if you fancy some Great Western steam through the Carmarthenshire countryside!

    regards

Love the pictures matt! I'm going to bring the family as soon as we're next in wales for a trip, probably early July.

It's great you have all made the most of the time with no trains running to get maintenance jobs done etc! Railway looks great in the pics for it!
