Keep up at the back @RalphW. The Northern Belle morphs into the Bournemouth Belle on 5th July with a locomotive as yet unknown but almost certainly not a Black 5 that the publicity is showing.

46201 Northern Belle return, near Cotehill 27.05.21. Blue sky in the distance it may have been, but...

    30 years on.

I took the opportunity today to try to recreate a photo (modern trackside vegetation permitting) that I took in rather less clement weather on 10th August 1991. 6201-(52)-fbook.jpg 22-6201-south-of-Kirkby-Stephen-10-Aug-1991-fbook.jpg

"Many were on their way to catch giant ocean-going liners to America from Southampton." Wouldn't those passengers have been on boat trains running into the docks, rather than on the Bournemouth Belle?

Also "Pullman-style carriages". Apart from the livery, how far do they resemble genuine Pullmans?

I opted to watch this one from the overbridge beyond Wilpshire summit. The weather was sunny and warm (19C). A check on RTT showed that Lizzie had left Clitheroe 7E - so not long to wait. 5E Lizzie appeared and headed through the station, looking and sounding powerful. In the warm conditions the exhaust was a shimmering, blue-tinged haze that shot skywards from Lizzie's single chimney distorting the background. The train was moving at a good speed and 6201 was soon over the summit; an easing but not shut off. The coaches slipped by and then the diesel (still some exhaust). A truly magnificent machine and RED!

I have watched all the videos posted (thanks). I am puzzled by Lizzie's stately progress across Whalley Arches, nothing in front so should not have been held at Whalley. Was the slow progress to give the punters more time to admire the scenery, or perhaps to avoid a longish wait in the less salubrious neighbourhood around Daisyfield Jn? Anyone shed any light?

I seem to remember someone saying last week that there was a speed restriction on the viaduct.
