At Alton and at East Grinstead there are essentially end-on connections between the heritage line and NR, with parallel tracks for only a short distance. The Not only the cost: how would you fit in a third track between Worgret Jn and Wareham, which is a distance of about a mile?

The Swanage Railway have just released a video for the Herston Carriage Shed appeal.

Find out more about the carriage shed, and why it is so important for the future of our railway.

    Good morning all,

As a part of the push to raise £65,000 to build our new carriage shed, a new video has just been released to help advertise and explain why building this new facility should is so important. It will hopefully explain any questions that were initially raised.

We have already raised 25% of the total (£17,028), please help us raise the remaining money by July so that we can build the shed this winter.

    Thankyou.

Agreed extra track will be impractical.
In 2017 the WCR crew were good at running a service on part of the mainline. This time there will have to be good training of the SR volenteers before a DMU or 31896 services start this year, which is feasible.

The Standard Tank (now much cleaner) departs Swanage past an "ex works" condition 257 Squadron on what was the 80th operations training trip to depart since commencement last Monday. By Sunday the total should be close to 120 round trips as I believe there may be engineering work tomorrow limiting operations.
Also the 79th round trip arrives back at Swanage behind a slightly less clean 33111. It looks like the first coach may need a slight clean again after the efforts of the volunteers the other week.

Yes Aran (according to his YouTube channel) needs to be spoken to by the police. Seems to make a habit of trespassing in all sorts of places. I would suspect he is reasonably local from the other videos he has on YouTube.

Hi all, just to confirm, the Swanage Railway is aware of this video and it has been reported to the relevant authorities.

    Thanks.

What an idiot. They even have a baby with them!

Then he worries about someone seeing him after he see the £1000 fine notice, yet still posts the video on the internet.

Now the railway is aware, you might want to have a friendly word with the Mods to remove the video from these pages at least - not much point prolonging the oxygen of publicity ...

The same video at Norden was put up a couple of weeks ago, along with another one of him dicking about on the mainline at 102 miles from Waterloo.

Both videos were taken down. But now the Norden one is back up.

Leaving the video available to view may help to identify these idiots, and get them prosecuted.

A little bit of digging reveals a first name, surname and car registration. Filmed in the winter/early spring of 2021 by the look of it.

Trespass on a railway is a Criminal Offence, not a civil offence as trespass elsewhere. I doubt the police will be interested however despite the obvious evidence. It's a shame that railways don't take up these prosecutions themselves.

I thought that it's not quite the same as trespass on the big railway where it falls under a more modern Act of Parliament, heritage railways rely on an earlier Act which requires a refusal to quit? Unless the railway has specific bye-laws which it can use.

More incriminating footage from another source. These coaches will need removing pretty quickly before they become a target for vandals.

Let's leave off the justifiable indignation about trespass and have a bit of indignation about the appalling mess! The utter apotheosis of the linear scrapyard. Just remove gricer's distorting spectacles for a moment to realise why having a tourist railway next-door is not always something to be wished for. Grrh.

I'd suggest that it would be counter-productive given how person involved clearly craves attention.
