I would need to find my notes again. There’s not much difference between 30 or 37 though as it’s a steep hill for it

The best experience I had on the BWR was at a gala few years ago when 4247 and 4612 had charge of 5 coaches out of Parkway. Once they were off the curve outside the station, the regulator of the 42xx was put into the roof whilst the Pannier just hung on.

Sadly, not a working that will ever be repeated.

A great pity, why is that?

Cast your mind back several months to the events at a certain railway in Somerset concerning a large freight locomotive then draw some parallels.

Reading between the lines Im guessing there’s been a disagreement and 4247 is/will no longer be based on the Bodmin and Wenford.

I've been browsing the B&W website and their Facebook and Twitter pages but seen no sign of that, though Im not registered and could have missed something. Indeed both locos are mentioned recently as part of their home fleet. I've really enjoyed my visits to the line, especially the china clay galas, and to lose those engines would be a great shame. I hope that is not in prospect, can anyone help?

It is a shame. It would be good if the big tank went to Painton line and they sent a smaller engine to replace it then the owner will be happier

I don’t know if it’s true or not but from what’s implied in post #47 I’m guessing that’s what’s happened. I could be totally wrong though.

Excellent news for the B&W c/o Railadvent. <BJ>

''The Bodmin and Wenford Railway has announced that they are in the process of preparing for a Saturday 1st of May reopening.

Based in Bodmin, Cornwall, the heritage line has carefully read the UK Government’s Roadmap to Recovery, released on February 22nd, and decided that Saturday 1st of May is the best date to reopen considering all factors.

The reopening depends on the Government’s advice which will vary depending on the danger COVID-19 poses to the general public

Chair of the Bodmin and Wenford Railway PLC Board David Nelson-Brown commented: “The last year or so has been a very long slog, and at times things looked bleak. But I am delighted to see the light not far ahead, and, amazingly, we’ve got this far! Our time for this has come, and I hope over the next few weeks to see a busy hive of activity across the railway to give that final push”.

I don't understand this cryptic response. Is the 42 going somewhere else? Has a weight limit been imposed on the line?

A recent announcement states that reopening is now delayed until the 18th at the earliest and that this is subject to review

I wish that somebody would say what is happening with 4247. The most impressive loco currently on the B&WR, I hope she is staying.

I dont know what is happened to 4274 and why it isn’t working anymore but lots of engines have moved because of things happening. Kilmersdon has moved to the mid hints railway because the owners got thrown out of the old railway and the llangon railway is probably having to sell there engines to other railways as they have had a bad time. So there is lots going on at the moment but it will need the manager at Bodmin to say what’s happening

Kilmersdon has moved to the Watercress Line, but not from Bodmin.

Very kindly the Bodmin and Wenford have loaned the Watercress Line their pannier.

Not sure where the Mid Hints is, but presumably their advertising isn't all that good.

It is reported on the Cornwall Railway Society website that 4247 is "due to leave for pastures new this month". Sorry to disappoint.
