Here's a still (taken, I think, by C&L member Philip Bedford).

Now that does look good. I hope to be over in mid September to have a look.

Hi Ilvaporista - let Micheal Kennedy know you're coming over and he'll arrange for someone to be there. I could possibly come up from Cork at the same time (I'm also a Cambrian fan, btw!).
Dromod is easy to get to from Dublin - 2 hours up the Sligo line from Connolly. If staying overnight, we recommend the Copper Still hotel (http://thecopperstill.ie/) whose owner is very supportive of the C&L. If you have a hire car, then it's possible to drive much of the route of the original C&L and its branch to Arigna.

You can contact Micheal by going to the Avonside 'Nancy' Restoration Group page on Facebook, choose 'Members' and scroll down to Moderators. You can then send him a pm.

Thanks very much for the information and when I have plans finalised I will be in contact. The plan is to hire a car and tour round for a week. I have to go to see the family ancestry near Dublin.

The road up from Dublin is a pretty good one and Dromod itself is a fair sized town. The old C&L station building really is charming and Michael has a fascinating (and sizeable!) collection, by no means limited to the Irish NG.

If the weather's good .... and it's your sort of thing, I'd also recommend you keep some time free for a boat trip on the Shannon from nearby Roosky.

Just jogging this thread as those on NP who aren't following the C&L on Facebook (and I've given that up myself) might not know that despite the horrors of 2020, narrow gauge steam has been active in Ireland: Nancy is back on the C&L and it looks like she was steamed when possible in 2020.
Any photos or videos you could share, @MartinBall @Avonside2 ?

No chance to get to Dromod for me since the pandemic started, but I know Nancy has had a few test runs. Also, the Kerr Stuart 'Dromad'* has been sent away for a major overhaul...

*Yes, the loco's name is 'Dromad' which is the Irish spelling of the village of Dromod

Hi Andrew. "Nancy" was fully restored at Allan Keef's and returned to the Cavan & Leitrim Rly at Dromod, Co.Leitrim Ireland where it steamed for the first time at the railway in March 2019 and has steamed several times since then but the railway is currently closed to visitors owing to the current pandemic. Photo's of the loco in steam can be found on the railway's facebook page.
