What can we look forward to in the coming year - assuming that once the mass vaccination programme for Covid is approaching completion by early summer? Loco-wise I think we should see the return of Q6 2238 on the NYMR with its 19yr boiler ticket renewed, S15 30499 at the Mid Hants , Hall 4930 at the SVR and perhaps WC 34059 at the Bluebell, but what other notable events?

W24 at Havenstreet has been steamed after its 10 yearly overhaul so will re-enter service in 2021.

Don't hold your breath for 499. We're aiming for 2022.

4930 too is quoted for 2022.

The August 2020 news from the 4150 Fund said: "It looks like the loco will not be able to go to Bridgnorth for up to 12 months, as we will have to wait for the Stanier mogul to come off the jacks". I've more or less assumed that this and the subsequent restrictions might push the dates back for both locos beyond 2021, but I've no inside info.

Also from SVR, it would be nice to see 'Dunrobin' in 2021 if that's possible. After a couple of years with brakes and bogies I'm really hopeful to be able to see D1062 in operation.

On the GCR, BR Std 2 No 78019 has its bottom end completed and it is just awaiting the boiler from Tyseley so that should be running in 2021.

Loco-wise, 34059 with any luck on the Bluebell. "Beachy Head" was generally being talked about for 2021, but I suspect will be 2022 now, having lost a good 6 months or more or of work. "Fenchurch" - 2022, but can't see it for 2021.

There's a lot of energy around wagons at the moment on the Bluebell as well, and hopefully we'll see more goods running.

This seems to be the case on a few railways at the moment, I've spotted a couple of new facebook pages for wagon groups on railways appearing recently. More wagon restoration going on all around the country is certainly something to look forward to.

Diesel wise I’m hoping for some good news regarding 8233, 5705, the Baby Deltic and 10000. Also hoping for some good news with 40135.

    oops, clumsy fingers!

So far, most of the replies have been regarding locos, but what about other aspects of heritage railways?

You do have a good point, but I can’t think of any major infrastructure or carriage and wagon projects that are shouting about being completed in 2021, please someone prove me wrong as I don’t want to be mr negative :):)

Well I hope that the new station at Weston Wharf and the almost mile of track at Cambrian Heritage Railways will come into use by the end of 2021. It might not seem like a major project to some but for an organisation that turns over less than £50k to complete such an expansion will be a notable achievement.
