I’d have thought that those entitled to know will receive a report.

We were advised that a report would be sent to Shareholders afterwards by e-mail, including copies of all the questions submitted and answers given. Given that both Qs and As were ready in time for the meeting, then I would expect that process to be quite quick, but still awaiting them at the moment.

Well, considering that the minutes of the AGM are usually circulated with the notice of the next meeting, almost a year later, I don't think anyone on here should be holding their breath. Meanwhile the WSRHT have circulated the minutes of their AGM and the Q&A session that followed and an unedifying spectacle it was too.

What was "unedifying" about the meeting Business transacted questions asked and questions answered. Oxford states "

    unedifying
    /ʌnˈɛdɪfʌɪɪŋ/
    adjective
    1. (especially of an event taking place in public) distasteful; unpleasant.
"the unedifying sight of the two leaders screeching conflicting proposals"
What was unpleasant? what was distasteful? I watched the whole meeting from start to finish and found nothing along these lines. Just democracy at work.

I thought Bob Meanley's question was rather unedifying coming from someone who commands such respect in the preservation world.

As a new member reading those, I’m not entirely sure whether the Trust wants to retain my membership, or prefers to see me sod off elsewhere now that the campaign that was my reason for joining has been defeated.

There’s a peace to be won as well as the war.

When did you join the WSSRT?

Not one of those ballot-box-stuffing-Johnny-come-lately-trojan-horse-hostile-takeover-no-interest-in-carriages-or-museum were you? Or just a hypocrite?

Democracy in action - when we do it, a hostile clandestine takeover attempt - when someone we don't like does it.

Still, looking forward to you updating us regularly on your volunteering at the WSSRT.

Perhaps you might like to update your volunteering status for that matter.

Fairly easy that. About 6 hours each day 5 days a week making/repairing parts for 2 std gauge locos during these covid times in my own workshop.
Usually at least 2 days a week on site on loco/boiler work with some project management during non covid times.
In the summer usually one day per week steam footplate work mostly on the WSR during non covid times.
Two evenings most weeks on administrative tasks connected with certain railway loco trusteeships all the time.
    All unpaid.
I'm sure others are doing plenty.

    Yet more whataboutery from you.

I'm not the one crying foul and quick to attack people as joining an organisation for political reasons (accusing them of no interest in carriage restoration etc) and then joining the same organisation for opposing political reasons.

It is pretty simple, either those who joined to oppose the 10 are massive hypocrites or they are going to put their time and effort where their mouths are and get the WSSRT's carriages restored.

I am sure you will agree with me that they will be a fine addition to the line and if they are restored by those new WSSRT members then it will be one positive thing to come out of the s-storm of stupidity that is the WSR.

Unless of course your idea of a positive development is getting one over the people you hate on the line and allowing the WSSRT to revert back to being 4 men, their dog and some carriages wasting away.

Hang on. You asked a question about volunteering. I asked you the same question. Will you be giving a meaningfull answer to that simple question?.

Then just alter your personal description to "Yes I am an active volunteer". Simple enough and might actually sound welcoming.

No, I asked if those who joined the WSSRT after attacking the new members for having no interest in volunteering, are going to put their money where their mouths are and volunteer to restore the carriages, or if they are just hypocrites.

Reminds me of that old joke in Berlin as the city was piles of rubble and Russians approached in 1945.

Well, of course you wouldn't have found it unpleasant. It was very much in your style.
FYI, "democracy in action" was the AGM. Nothing wrong with that. It was the Q&A session afterwards that really let the side down. Democracy means decisions are made by the majority. It doesn't mean that the minority have to be kicked in the teeth afterwards.

There's plenty of tasks a volunteer can complete, sat in front of a keyboard in the comfort of his own home. A fair chunk of the work currently undertaken in the UK is being done under just such circumstances. It's not all climbing under rolling stock, clad in a boiler suit and carrying an adjustable spanner.
As a matter of interest, have any of the recent members who voted for "the 10" and offered to volunteer been contacted about volunteering by the Trust?

I read the recent WSSRT minutes with interest. I have not seen any plans for carriage restoration over the next 12 months. Might someone , Rodney perhaps, pause the unedifying spectacle of taking lumps out of other Trust members and railway supporters for a moment and help us understand what the 12 month, 5 year, 10 year plan is?

Quite - exactly what I have said previously. Exactly what I have been doing for another heritage railway intermittently over the past year or so....
