The designer will have to consider a large number of potential constraints:

    - Axle-load that the track will take.
-Total weight that bridge spans will take (or available cranes can lift).
    - Total length that can fit in shed/works, on turntables or in engine release roads.
    - Whether it will go round the curves - a major issue for a 12-coupled.
    - Loading gauge heights and widths.

And no doubt other factors as well. All of these constraints may change over time.

That looks like of those photoshop jobs where someone takes a perfectly reasonable Loco and stretches it. (The clue is in the vast over-provision of domes - I mean, come on, how many do you need? ;)

Perhaps someone with a CAD package could modify the Bulgarian design to incorporate a Bulleid MN boiler. The result would make an interesting comparison with "The Leader".

Has anyone heard of progress on 7229 lately? The two seemed to be going gangbusters (relatively).

I will happily stand corrected, but I believe the efforts we saw a while ago were only to get all the parts in one place....

That sounds familiar. Maybe I was getting 00 and 29 mixed up. Which then means the 00 will be the first of the class to steam in preservation.

I would suspect that 7202 at Didcot may be the first one to run. It's further advanced from memory.
