The 35025 group also had/has a set of class 40 wheelsets for their tender. They were at Loughborough so I assume they moved to Sellindge with the loco.

The new tender tank has now been delivered to Loughborough. Work on the tender chassis is continuing and the boiler is expected back from the South Devon Railway Engineering Co quite soon.

There was a report that the boiler was back at Loughborough, but there was no sign of it on today's visit to the loco shed. I believe it is "at a private site in Loughborough" so maybe just waiting for 70013's boiler to go away?

Work on the tender frames is continuing, but there is significant corrosion where the front drag-box was riveted and so some new steel is to be welded in place. A new drag-box assembly/casting? is being machined.

Work has continued (Up to Mid March) on the locomotive chassis and tender chassis. As they in the top corner of the shed it is difficult to get a reasonable picture.

Thanks for those pics Misspentyouth - was the boiler to the North of Lbro station, looking East, and there are now houses on that factory site?

That won’t be the tender that it has now, as it swapped tenders with 35005 when both were on the line. (The present overhaul has also replaced the tank on the ex-35005 tender.)

Hi Phil, yes the boiler is situated just north of the station on left hand side. The 'factory' that you see with the yellow Comma vans is the Post Office's TEC (Telecommunications Engineering Centre) - basically where the telephone engineers are based. I also recall to the south and east of the station the 'Ladybird Book" factory.
With the various parts of Boscastle was Witherslack Hall and 1264 in similar condition dis-assembled. Duke of Gloucester from memory was at either Quorn or Rothley? 5224 was at LB ex-Barry. 4744 (N2) and 1306 (B1) and 506 Butler Henderson completed the stock count along with another. 39?

Indeed so pmh_74 although I do get confused tbh. Am I right in saying this tender in my 1979 image ran with Boscastle when it was first restored at LB in 1992?
I think this is tender 3116 which came from MN 35006 which it carried through it's operating life. Now re-tanked for 35005 when completed and has run with 34007 in more recent times.
The tender frames now with 34039 is 3119 I believe which spent it's operational life connected to 35009?
    Any corrections would be welcome.

I thought 35005 had swapped tenders with 35027 at some point? Or maybe it was 34105 and 35027?

I believe tender 3116 has been swapped around and yes, ran with 35027 at one time.

According to the latest "Main Line" #183 Boscastle's boiler had to go back to the SDRE for some reworking, but is now back at a base in Loughborough for finishing (Stays and tubes etc). The new front tender dragbox had just been delivered prior to Lockdown and some work had been done on the new tender tank. Hopefully work will have restarted now.

In the latest Main Line it is reported that the boiler stay drilling is nearly completed and other boiler components are being finished. The tender has the new drag box in position and new front frames being welded in place. The fittings (electrical conduit and lamps) for the tender tank have been trial fitted and some prep and painting has been done. So good progress is being maintained.

It's funny how some things prompt memories.

I used to often sit in the carpark at Quorn with my dad when my brother was at football and Badminton training at weekends.

34039, 6990 and (4)5231 always seemed to be the locos in traffic- so we almost got fed up of seeing the same locos!

Now I really look forward to seeing her operational again- it will be like seeing an old friend!
