Thanks to @Arun Valley and @Steamie Boxes for the gen on today's LE run. Managed to get out to film it just north of Stafford. It was running over half an hour early when I saw it, and I see they're not hanging about - 67m early at Wigan. Must be keen to get home :D.

Brief video to follow this evening if it passes muster.

Edit: Video below. Nothing special, just a record of the movement...

Timings are very unlikely to be steam. 0Zxx movements suggest a light engine without support coach, which is very unusual for steam over the distances suggested. Given the lack of water stops and timings in sections, all points to Electric and Diesel traction.

Strathspey Railway are hosting the tour stock overnight on the Friday, but I believe haven't been informed about stabling a steam locomotive.

Not sure about this Sam. I do not know anything about the times for 45212's move with the A/B stock but these are the times for the K1+POB move that I've been given - I'm the afternoon fireman for this one.

I stand corrected then. The reason why I thought it would be 45212 with the afternoon stock is because there was a 60mph limit with the K1 being limited to 45mph and that would normally show on RTT. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong and I apologise for that. Must say that I'm surprised they have sent 44871 up north and are about to send 45212 back south.

Ah - the perils of trying to second guess RTT. The STN (Special Traffic Notice) for the move has the K1 correctly limited to 50 MPH. The loco is going to Carnforth for tyre turning before going on to Grosmont. I believe that 45212 is also going south for the same reason but I do not know when.

Can they do tyres in house at Carnforth now, if they had had that facility in 2013 poor old 47500 might still be with us.
