Yes, found it now. Dunno why it didn't show up when I did a search.

R Mellish asked: Anyone know what changed to allow WCRC to bury the hatchet?

I have no information so what follows is entirely speculative.

My guess as to what has changed is the arrival of Steve Davis as Chair of the A1 Trust. This was the man who, when leading an Army force in Sierra Leone, found a collection of old steam engines and persuaded the powers that be to set up a Sierra Leone National Railway Museum. As head of the NRM he persuaded two museums in North America to lend their A4s to enable the Great Gathering of all six surviving A4s at York in 2013. So, a mover and a shaker who doesn't take no for an answer.

The A1 Trust had no intention of ever running Tornado again in BR Brunswick green. And for many many years there was no constructive communication between the Trust and David Smith at Carnforth. So what's a man going to do if he likes the finish on Galberta?

An immovable object meets an irresistible force (who likes Brunswick green!)

And so do I! Tornado looks magnificent again!

I stress again - all pure guesswork.

Has it ? The last I was aware the triangle remains but has restricted access - usually used for DMUs that need turning when one cab requires isolation (e.g. faulty speedo).

    Hi Fred.

I heard that it had gone from conversations elsewhere. I looked at Traksy & Open Time Trains & couldn't see the triangle showing, but we know that not all sidings are recorded on such media. However, looking on Google Earth, I couldn't see connections to complete the triangle any more either.

From google maps it looks like the triangle is complete (but no access to the Wigan line)

As far as I am aware, you are unable to access the down line at Olive Mount Junction in order to go forward to Lime Street, as no signalling to allow it. The crossover from L&M down line is one way only to allow access to the Olive Mount Chord. However, even it was (is) possible, the frequency of passenger traffic on the L&M line makes it almost impossible to carry out such a movement.

Yes there is a reinstated triangle at Allerton East Junction to Garston Junction then to Speke East Junction but so far not aware any ECS has used it to be turned as such.

The more obvious triangle is at Earlestown to be honest were it is possible and has been used for that purpose.

Thanks John, lucky with the sun for once!
Just a shame about the rods, in all the shots I got they were in the same position.
It was if the loco had just slid along the track!! Never mind, glad to see her out and about.:)
