In the world of Rev Awdry's Railway Series I could certainly see this happening, considering how uppity Great Western locos are (much like fans of the GWR in real life), though I can also imagine a King Class being even more uppity saying: "I'm a KING, any livery is the right colour for me! And I'll hear no more about it! I have spoken..." Then puffs off to the water tower all grandly~.

    ...sorry perhaps overthought this! :p

It’s a King. Surely royal blue is a more fitting colour than green?;)

    Wasn’t Edward I a Plantagenet? I thought plants were normally green :)

"Edwardus Primus Scottorum Malleus" If it's going to stay blue, don't paint a Saltire on it!!

At which point 3822 pipes up "Well, I may be a humble freight engine, painted in plain budget black, but at least I have GWR on my tender: I'm not branded with those ridiculous lions of the foreign oppressors..."

The irony of a King named after a 14th century monarch wearing recycled Caledonian livery was evidently lost on the Sir Humphreys in Marylebone!

So she finally went out of service yesterday, looks like no overhaul going to start for at least 12 months.

Well it’s spent a fair amount of time at Didcot (obviously) so about 4 miles at its home...

Where has it run, other than Didcot? MNR, GCR, GWSR, NYMR, SVR and PDSR, any others? Plus the run to Paddington and back. I'd be very surprised if the mileage run is in five figures. Hopefully the bottom end won't need a lot of work, but who knows.

Visited over the Bank Holiday weekend and nice to see 6023 restored to it's original appearance. Seemed to sound more like
it did before the alterations, does anyone know if the original blastpipe was restored also?
As an aside, the Saint looked and sounded fantastic, what a pity we didn't get to see it stretch it's legs at the SVR.
