On behalf of all of us at the ELR, may I thank everyone involved in the organisation of the event and also to all the enthusiasts who came along and supported us. I was on site all day yesterday and heard many good comments about the event and it was great to be around Bury with constant activity going on throughout the day.

Feedback from these events allows us to ensure that we keep learning and provide what people want to see, so keep the comments coming. There are a few areas where improvements can still be made, but we do try and listen to what people tell us.

Just one small request from me if possible - if any of the lineside photographers would be prepared to share their images I am always on the lookout for good photographs that can be used on publicity material for the railway. I also think that our magazine editors would also appreciate a wider selection of images. We can't offer payment, but are very grateful to anyone who supplies us with photographs of the railway and photos used will be suitably credited. Anyone who is willing to assist can contact me at andy.cowardATeast-lancs-rly.co.uk (replace AT with @).

Once again, many thanks and let's hope the February event is just as much fun.

    Regards

Very pleasantly surprised to arrive at Bury this afternoon and find things running to time, not usual I have to say! I managed a run to Rammy with the austerity and it was great to just sit and watch the trains go by at Bury - excellent afternoon for a fortyx and 5 year old. Thank you!

Many thanks to all at the ELR who were involved in this excellent Gala. Particular thanks to Nigel Valentine for organising yet another mini-charter which was very enjoyable. My guess is that this raised a substantial sum as it was well attended, despite weather which failed to fulfil its promise - as it usually does wherever I go! Timings were spot on throughout Saturday. My only grouse (as usual) - the inconsiderate people who stand in the field south of the Caravan Park in hi-viz and spoil the shots of those on the edge of the cutting.
The delayed departure of the Duke at 4pm was disappointing as the sun literally sank below the trees minutes before she left, but many thanks to the crew for a performance that can only be described as scintillating!

My video record of the Event is below.

PS Drat! I clicked the wrong button and set the previous message up as a new topic. Nothing like a spot of public humiliation to develop the character!

Bit pointless to doublehead the Black Fives when smokebox to smokebox!, pretty decent otherwise, will comment more when i get more time.

These are excellent pictures, I must try to get up to the ELR again. The last time was in 2001 when the 'Crab' was about to be withdrawn.
