Them type 4's can't be very reliable - needed a pair of them double heading to reach Crewe - I guess in case one conked out.

As one did a few years back, near Winsford, whilst hauling the whole stock of a charter train from Carnforth to Crewe. The Scot had to propel the whole lot to Crewe before it could depart at the head of its train!

    Lol
Back in the 90's class 37s would be used on the steel trains through Salop towards S.Wales - they'd usually run double heading on the basis they didn't have the best reliability and if one had problems then the other would still get them there.

...It was an impressive sight the one evening to see the steel train triple-headed with three class 37s!
The driver was certainly quite happy to make full use all available power on that evening as it came off the viaduct and started accelerating through Sutton Bridge Jnc towards Bayston Hill - a deafening roar and three black columns of smoke shooting up.

In a reversal of the usual situation, 46100 arrives just before the clouds at Ulleskelf on the return journey of the 'White Rose':

The rain had gone and unfortunately so had the light when 46100 got to Smithy Bridge tonight.

According to Railway Herald it looks like it's now going to be 46100 instead of 70000 for Saturday's Lakelander.

Looking at RTT, it appears it is going to be formed of the same set that works the Dartmouth Statesman on Friday (stables overnight at Rugby). Does this mean we're going to be stuck with Mk2 'coffins' even in Dining? Will be very disappointing if so!

EDIT: Just found some videos of the English Riviera Statesman from July that had the Mk1s in the set, as per normal Saphos trips, so fingers crossed!

The statesman trains and saphos tours have been using the same set since they returned in July, which is the mix of MK2s and MK1s seen in the photos above

Statesman Rail have been using the same rake that Saphos have, a mixture of Mk1 and 2s.

‘61994’ beat me to it. :)
