After yesterday's awful events at Garsdale I found it hard to get motivated so two average shots of 70000 at Wilpshire and near Horton in Ribblesdale .

I assume the wreath is in response to yesterday?

Anyone know what's up with the Brit?

The Wreath was in memory of a chap called Keith Kellet I believe.

Another overcast day on the S+C as BR Standard No. 70000 'Britannia' works the northbound 'Fellsman' away from Lunds Viaduct to Carlisle reported later to
    be suffering problems.

    Dandry Mire this morning.

In a touching tribute to yesterday's sad occurrence, Britannia's whistle chimed out over the fell from the time it reached the south end of Garsdale Station almost until it was on the mire bridge.

Highly unlikely to be a hot axlebox. BR Standards have roller bearings throughout, and any failure of those is likely to be more destructive than the damage suffered with plain bearings overheating.

I have heard that the issue with the Brit was "big end issues".

What ever the issues. They didn't leave Carlisle until 9ish last night. Straight down the West Coast Mainline back to Crewe.

Could've just taken the con rod off and limped back to Crewe on one cylinder. 70000 has done it before!

From the speed through Lancaster I can assume we can discount concerns regarding axleboxes....

Going too fast to see if the Con Rod has been taken down.

I think the con rods would have been removed for towing

Reported on another website (BritsRUs.co.uk) - so it must be true - that 70000 was suffering from a lack of power from her middle cylinder. Whoa, keep away from the keyboard, Just Oswald being silly! No such website and no such cylinder, but with a little more believable content and posted on my Facebook page (I haven’t got one) then . . . .?
