Rail Charter Services Twitter feed reporting fireman requiring CPR at Garsdale. Here's hoping for a positive outcome...

Thoughts with the individual concerned, hopefully they will make a full recovery (hopefully the other crew members are ok too as well)

Tweet has now been removed from Rail Charter Services twitter feed. Hope I'm not reading too much into that

Thoughts entirely with all involved at Garsdale. Here's hoping the man involved makes a full and swift recovery and a return to the footplate.

Awful conditions out and about today as No.46115 'Scots Guardsman' speeds the northbound 'Dalesman' through Garsdale to Carlisle

A fortunate break in the weather as 'Scots Guardsman' works the return 'Dalesman' rail tour over Crosby Garrett viaduct

Have heard on another site that train had a footplate fatality at Garsdale; I hope the report is not true but - if so - commiserations to the family.

The sounding of the Stanier Hooter on departure from Garsdale in @nige757 video does sound hauntingly mournful.

I would suspect that it was more to do with a realisation that it was an incredibly insensitive and ill conceived thing to do.

If the emerging reports are correct thoughts are with all involved.

Everyone probably knows this anyway, but I was on the Dalesman yesterday and the Train Manager spoke in each carriage and said “He collapsed on the footplate and was certified dead at Garsdale when he was taken off the train.” It was all very sad indeed. My thoughts are with the mans relatives and friends. How the crew took that engine back to Hellifield and then back to Carnforth is beyond me. West Coast acted very professionally under the circumstances.

After watching Nige757's video it shows you can be at the right place just at the wrong time sadly . Very sad sight as 46115 left Garsdale with a very somber crew I would suspect . Very sad day for all concerned .
