I think @Maunsell907 has spotted why:

Well I'm not allowed in that WSR friends group, apparently, they are weeding out the nat pres members.

1.2k membership can bet there's a few stooges on there.

A sad and telling commment about internet trolls. Most seem to know enough to not be alleged foreign destabilisers, and are unfortunately so called preservationists. Got trolled myself, and no longer contribute to preservation. The number of enthusiasts who comment on unpleasant experiences and dont get involved again is very large. This is not to say there aren't great places in preservation, I can vouch Bo'ness is first rate, for example. Have never ridden the WSR, so personally would love to see it back, but seeing Minehead and DEPG stations it looks beautiful, and 8 engine galas. Peak Rail is a similar relatively happy line all moving forwards. But this stuff can be deeply damaging to people. Perhaps it's time to send the trolls packing.

Have just joined the Group. My application was approved within seconds. Must admit that a cursory look at some of the recent posts paints a totally different picture to the stuff being discussed on Nat Pres. Reasonable answers to all the questions that are repeatedly asked on this forum. Perhaps a few of the usual complaining suspects on here should join the Group;).
    Just a suggestion:).

But you post under a pseudonym on here, "Dan Taylor" is my name.

According to a "LR", I've been identified as a nat pres keyboard warrior and I'm not wanted.

Even after I promised not to be defamatory.

Incidentally, did we ever hear what was gained from this?

"We are trying to gather some market research from our valued supporters in terms of your thoughts on wanting to visit a heritage railway, and which restrictions you would like to see in place before you consider a visit.

We would be grateful if you could complete this short survey which will take roughly 3 minutes.

Once we have an appropriate amount of responses, we will collate the information this will help us with our forward planning.

At present we are unsure of when our services will be restarting, but we are interested in finding out our supporters views. "

It doesn't take long to work out who I am, but I got through! :) I intend to merely observe, and offer the odd "like" here or there rather than get involved. @D1002 several posts, and a *lot* of comments in that group got deleted a few days ago.

You are a Nat Pres keyboard warrior;).
Still looking at the Facebook Group. A lot of the stuff discussed on here seem to be rationally explained on the Group.
Maybe the WSR is not the disaster area many posters on here think it is.

This being the case, why don't such questions get answered here as well?

I'm just interested in what they say and could do with a laugh every so often.

Problem with that group and here too is,

The moment you offer constructive critique, You are branded a keyboard warrior.

Difference is I would back up what I say face to face.

Ermm. Has it not occurred to you that not everyone involved with The WSR is a member of Nat Pres?

on a forum where anyone can sign up and post, theres a bigger freedom of speech when you compare.

    WSR Friends Group.

1.2k membership in a closed group. where unless you toe the party line and agree not to offer criticism of any form,
    You are not welcome there.

The main problem with the WSR is summed up there.

They can't take criticism or stating that this didn't work etc how about doing this.

Because that ends up with the predicable why don't you volunteer, run your own train if you think its so easy, that kind of thing.

They can control whats said on that group,

To a degree they can't do that here, Its an open forum and they know they can't control it and maybe even might get slaughtered if they raise their head above the parfait.

No one has the guts to own up to make a few mistakes and the fact they aren't as perfect as people think.

It's just easier to open a closed group ignore this site and prentend everything is alright.

    As demonstrated by this clip.

the group is moderated by the plc personnel in the main . read the rules and the broad direction is clear . For those happy with the decisions being made and committed to the WSR the group will be a much happier and comfortable home . there is a thread now pinned explaining why the railway is not reopening . the question of the level crossing is interesting as are the responses especially reference to who currently is making decisions

Beyond that the content is WSR based as you would expect

I notice that since the group became private, group rules have appeared on the page you can see without being a member. Apart from the usual, no adverts, no bullying and be courteous, I found rule number 4 interesting :

    4
Negativity about the WSR in general
Any negativity about either the railway, its staff, board or volunteers will not be tolerated for whatever reason.

Rather like the people who want this thread removed it seems censorship is the C word in West Somerset.:Saywhat:

Has it ever been allowed. go back through this thread, theres examples of people trying to help them . but get slapped down, by those involved in the railway who post here.

because it goes against the WSR is perfect line.

There were some negative posts on there prior to it becoming private, but as someone stated up thread alot of posts have been removed since. My guess it's been ones showing negativity.

That has got nothing to do with it. Questions are being asked here and warrant full, accurate answers here. Who knows, honest polite replies in a forum not under WSR control might well convince people more easily.

The NYMR's MPD page has similar 'rules':

"Insults aimed at members of this page, shed staff, volunteers and railway management, bad language, criticism of work carried out at the MPD, rumours, speculation or spam will not be tolerated and the user will be removed and blocked."

Call it censorship if you like but it seems quite reasonable to me.

Ah, but those who have negative views of the behaviour of the Plc don't deserve logical explanations of the behaviour of the Plc because they had negative views which might be assuaged by logical explanations of the behaviour of the Plc....

    erm....
