What platform is being used there? Looks much further over than the usual platform used for the SSE...

Thanks. Looked further over than that, but I've never seen the station from that angle before!

    Cheers

Green Jube at York 30 July 2020

Five months after its tour of the cotton mills, Carnforth's green Jubilee 4-6-0 headed over to York, and the next day it took over at the head of the first Scarborough Spa Express of 2020 in Holgate sidings.

I had been hoping for the classic view of a steam engine in Platform 5, under the roof and footbridge. However it was routed through Platform 4 and did not stop until it was right at the end of the Scarborough platform, so the photographic opportunities were extremely limited on this grey drizzly day.

Still, it made a good first steamy outing after four months of Covid 19 lockdown. All on the station wore masks and distancing provision had clearly been made on the twelve coach train. I guessed that around 30% of the seats were occupied.

It was good to examine in detail the beautiful new green paint finish on this proven locomotive as it chuffed off competently into the gloom.

No crossing there Henry - only the predestrian footbridge between York Hospital and the football ground.

Sadly we can't plan for whats on the Narrow streets the other side of those trees (Scarborough Terrace/Grosvenor Terrace) or the Hospital behind the Camera.
