West Somerset Railway General Discussion

Discussion in 'Heritage Railways & Centres in the UK' started by gwr4090, Nov 15, 2007.

Should the Railway eventually reopen in any form, 4561's early return to steam would seem most desirable. Mind you, there's no binding guarantee the plc would agree (or even afford) to hire it.

Should? They won't, they have had plenty of time to react in a more appropriate manner and have failed to do so. I wonder what they have been promised in the background behind very closed doors?

Or "Mud & Custard" as I called when Mick Austin first turned a carriage out that style.

I am not a F/Book user, but was able to view that link. A curious read, thank you Martin.
There were a couple of comments that drew my attention. The line looks derelict in some photos and the reopening picture might await a similar one when it closes.

Well, all I've seen on the webcam so far have been weeds in the Bay platform line and a few chaps in hi-viz wandering about :) Hovewer, there has just been a puff of smoke in the distance, so who knows....

I have just looked on the webcam and there was a good train moving and the steam engine moving at the same time around the station.

It seems like someone is sanitising the posts. I just tried to click on a "like" for a post that goes against the party line and it seems "likes" have been disabled. Now, it would not be fair of me to suggest that everyone goes to the page and indicates their support for their particular viewpoint............ so I won't make that suggestion.

    Nope.

    No.

    No no no no !

    Alright then........... ;)

I am sure the S&D trust will work in good faith, but I can't say the same for the present management of WSR PLC.

That post has been duplicated and the second version has yet to be gagged. Try liking the original and see what happens.

Can't see the first but judging by the response that I can see I relate to what you are saying!

So what engines have the WSR lost recently? 4110, 4160, 6695, 7027, 44422 and 53808 all in the past year.

And you don't have to look too far back to see them losing 3850, 5542, 6412, 53809 and 80136 as well. Is there anything I've missed?

I dunno, the press release also says "The PLC has indicated to the SDRT that it wishes to discuss the return of the locomotive to the WSR and to discuss funding options which would enable the overhaul, due in 2023, to be carried out as planned." Of course, that and some cash will get you a cup of coffee, but if the PLC really does want it back, that could be positive for the relationship.

Indeed it was and that explains it. A very well crafted response if I may say so.

Steady on, everyone, this might be the correct perspective. Or, it might not, but let's be patient for a bit.
