RNAD 337 - Currently at Carrog

MoS 30454 - Currently at Llangollen.

We're trying to have a major clearout of unwanted vehicles to create some working space. We also have several four wheeled tanker chassis plus a couple of tank wagons available.

Both I suggest worthy of continuing preservation.

I suspect there will be a number of those up for sale in the coming years; most will probably be scrapped, possibly after parts recovery.

It's probably full of asbestos unless previously stripped.

The data on this vehicle on the carriage survey lists it as having asbestos stripped in the notes

With a lot of SR CCT / PMVs being used for chassis for 4-wheel bodies these days, anyone know of any bodies for these luggage vehicles being disposed of under such circumstances?

The two bodies I have seen removed from pmv/cct chassis came apart in very small chunks. Sadly the dont lend themselves to being neatly lifted like a box van. I could probably find salvaged components, door hinges etc.

A very general question. MK1 or MK2 brakes - Apart from those already bought into preservation or charter stock are there many/ any left on the big railway ? perhaps as the NR Equivalent of 'Depertmental' vehicles ? Preserved examples seem to be sought after as easily converted to 'accessable' vehicles so if you want one for a support coach...

Think there are about half a dozen Mk2 brakes converted to DBSO''s still about

Are either of these two box van vehicles still available? It would be useful to know whether there is a requirement for these to be removed from the Railway as part of the sale, or whether they could remain as long as a restoration plan was in place for them?

    Peter,

Van 30454 , which is ex LNER, could possibly stay on the railway if a suitable proposal for restoration was made.
It's not my final decision, but it would be nice to see it properly restored . It actually belongs to the Grange group, so a word with Q might answer your question. We do have a policy of no timber underframe vehicles to run on our main line if you weren't aware.

    Hello Bob,

At Rowden Mill Station we are looking for a van - though something longer than a 10/12 ton box van to fit as a camping coach, ideally plank sided.
The running gear does not have to be fit for use in traffic, only required to maneuver on our short sections of track to a semi-permanent parking position.
If you are looking to re-home anything that might fit this description please let me know.

    Paul @ Rowden Mill

    Hello Paul,

I'm afraid that there is nothing of that nature likely to be available.

I suspect a number of railways will be looking to dispose of 12 wheel sleeping carriages in the near future, though they might be a significant project to make good.

We will be selling this Steam Heat van soon (12 Foot wheelbase) as we bought it for the wheelsets etc DSC00133.JPG - we could put our old worn ones back under it if needed.
