To me this is all irrelevant gibberish. What matters is they are reopening and if you want to be there you pay. We will be paying but not the first weekend

Another excellent day atop the hill was had yesterday, even if it was wet, windy & at times humid & you know what - we didn't care!

A little bit of progress was made on the gunpowder van, but weatherwise, it wasn't the ideal day to do too much on it.

The troublesome trucks that had been out to play the previous weekend were checked over to make sure things were in order.

Work continued on various vehicles in the yard with minor & major niggles that currently prevent them from joining the fleet.......

The repaint on the two plank continues, even though it didn't look out of place in the pick up goods!

Oh & even the tube & pipe wagons have been given the once over & found to be in pretty good nick, even the minor faults found proved rather too easy to rectify - now all they need is a damn good bath & a touch up here & there with a paintbrush!.......

    Cheers!

We're just a like minded bunch of nutters, who enjoy doing battle with the troublesome trucks, whilst putting the world to rights - a drop o the wet stuff won't stop us!......

Didn't dampen things either last Saturday, running the pick up goods Plandampf, in fact all who attened didn't even notice the rain - there was too much shunting going on!!

Cheers Steve, I was being arty (or a tart, either will do ;0 )
It didn't make it into the first cut due to the sacks, but it grew on me.

Mr Druid, is it just me but when I hear those words I feel something is about to go wrong Or is the wagon group that good. My experience from talking with the group would suggests the latter.

We don't call them 'troublesome trucks' for nothing!

Knowing ours, we always go at them prepared for the worst - so anything less is a bonus!!

Even though we're teaching them to behave, there are some still on the naughty step, that are proving a tad stubborn & not wishing, yet, to conform...... but, trust me, tjey will.

I think the orange timetable is steam for the trains starting from Alresford, Diesel for the ones starting from Alton.

Out of interest, what would be the total number of wagons available at present to form a goods train / breakdown train? TIA <BJ>

For the goods - circa 15....... but that can change week by wek, we expect a few more to be fit for service in the near future.....

As for a breakdown train, that I cannpt answer with any certainty, as as far as I know, its not in our remit...... same goes for an angineer's train!

So why do I get the feeling both may suddenly come under our wings?....... seeing as how we got three Dogfish up & running t'other year, when only one was required!

But as our strapline says, on the wagon group mugs, we deliver the goods. :)

Yes the Alton trains will have a diesel. Most likely to be the class 50.

Just to clarify that it is one steam and one diesel that week, but two steam the following week.

Hopefully a loco roster is decided soon!

Any word on how the repairs to the 2H progressed prior to lockdown? Just curious!

I recall one of the first Galas I visited at the line running a very good engineering freight. I recall it quite a sight seeing Wadebridge thundering through Ropley with the hoppers and some other wagons in tow. Might have a picture somewhere of that at home.
