Are passengers travelling on the dalesman from chester 28th july allowed to travel on a single ticket alone? or do they have to travel in two to a table? Thanks steve for letting us know the new dates for the dalesmans tours.

Take a bubble buddy (friend), split the cost, share the experience - support mainline steam.

Exactly will RL, but these dam new travel restrictions dont make it easy for the lonesome traveller folk like myself might have to wait until these travel restrictions are fully eased which could be 2021 i cant befriend strangers unless i join a railway enthusiasts group in order to travel in a party.

Contacting WCR would be the best way to find out.

Its nauseating enough just having my main course on a premier diner and a pink gin and oscilating side to side at speed like on the edinburgh xmas market 2019 and thats after a 2 litre flagon of cider going without a steam fix nearly 4 months is most certainly making me search every heritage railway website to see which ones are going to be the ones to restart running trains but that cant even be done unless travelling in a pre booked compartment of 8 or a table for 4 minimum 2 passengers due to these easing of lockdown rules of leisure travel theme parks and museums i think ile just do better getting a day rover riding around yorkshire on northerns new 185,s or 150,s seen as though pacers are gradually been withdrawn. and hang on to see if a vaccine is found for covid 19.

Interesting routeing for the Pendle Dalesman on Sept 8. Scarborough--York--Church Fenton-- Pontefract Baghill--- Wakefield (station not specified). Any thoughts on how they are going to do that even with T and T?

It would appear the Chester originating Dalesman's are now pathed north over the S&C and returning over Shap, based on the paths that have appeared on RTT. Will the one on the 28th July run? We will find out soon enough I guess!

The only way that this tour could get on to Wakefield kirkgate and Wakefield westgate to get to Leeds from Pontefract baghill is by a reversal at moorthorpe jct S and K joint line off the up line and switched on to the down line jct T and T i presume and proceed on to south kirkby jct on to the W.R.G.J. and onto hare park jct otherwise the only other way to do it from york is have Sherburn in helmet as the stop in place for Pontefract and the pendle dalesman proceeds by way of castleford and Normanton to Wakefield kirkgate and wakefiefield Westgate to Leeds then without the need for a reversal at south moorthorpe jct and south kirkby jct.

Assuming the route is up the Midland via Holbeck, I think it will end up being Castleford.

Just looking at the WCR Website. Says next Tuesday's train from Chester is north via the WCML, south over S&C to Hellifield then via Blackburn to Preston. Interested in that. Just out of interest and before booking I checked with RTT and according to them the its an anti clockwise day with steam from Hellifield to Carlisle via the S&C, return over Shap with steam coming off at Carnforth.

Yes and less steam mileage by about 30 miles seen as though the preston hellifield section isent covered by steam traction and normally on the clockwise traditional route steam stays ln from hellifield to preston. ive requested by email to W.C.R.C. to have my booking transferred to the York to Carlisle Dalesman on the 4th august, has the dalesman on the 28 july been rerouted anticlockwise cos of the faulty down gds loop at hellifield?
