Thanks!! Glad you like it! :) When I made this, I wasn't working/volunteering at the SVR. That changed pretty quick after this, and the share offer films were released. :) Also i'v only just seen your comment so forgive my late reply! :-D

That questionnaire does come across to me like the SVR have already decided their answers to a certain extent. I like the idea of a survey but it does seem to me more like a statement of what to expect. On another note, are the general public going to understand what an "open" coach is? Hopefully they won't be expecting railways to chop off the top and sides of their coaches to match any pre-concieved notions of an "open carriage"!

Agreed, it feels like it’s designed to verify their current thinking and choose between options they’ve already thought about.

It seems a bit of a chicken and egg problem. Do the survey before any detailed planning takes place and the survey is pretty meaningless, but detailed planning is tricky when you don't know what the response from the public would be.

I agree, but the survey could have been less leading.

Logic would always suggest that you plan for what you know is possible and test it with the public afterwards.

The problem, often, with surveys and polls is that many people tell you what they think you want to hear.

...especially when only given variations on the chosen script. For example, there aren’t options in that survey to say “no, I won’t pay a premium” or “I couldn’t give a stuff about social distancing” (my paraphrases!).

Today, Saturday 23rd May 2020, represents 50 years to the day since the Severn Valley Railway ran its first public trains between Bridgnorth and Hampton Loade.

Unfortunately we can't be there to celebrate, but the SVR website has added a page with some early press cuttings and photographs from the five years leading up to the opening day.

    https://www.svr.co.uk/svr50years.aspx

Here's to the next 50 years!

Is that from the signal post Andy?

Yes, but it wasn't in use then as the signalling had not been commissioned. We used to operate with a train staff under 'One Engine in Steam' rules.

The survey doesn't demand a response to every question, so if none of the options represent your views then you can simply leave that question blank.

I realised that part way through. But my observation about the implied bias of the questionnaire stands - not least that the answers will reinforce existing views, not challenge them b

Interesting comments on the survey here.
Any question in this survey can be challenged, with the dedicated "Any further comments" Box at the bottom. With the survey itself, the're basically saying, "Here are some ideas we have. What do you think?" It would seam kind of silly to approach the public with a blank slate and say, "What do you think we should do?" And would be far better to say, "Here's some of what we know we can do, What do you think?" It is a survey after all. Having pre-set suggestions is how they work.
Though maybe a picture of what an 'Open Coach' is, and is not, might help some less up on railway knowledge, understand that question better.

All fair, but there should also be control questions to mitigate the leading effect.
