How else would they know what is being said without reading the posts? What else are they doing?

Guessing what is being said? In which case that would be a bit paranoid.

Relying on someone telling them what is being said? Which is akin to ‘see that person over there, he’s been saying things about your mother, well I didn’t hear it myself, but my mates, cousin heard from someone that he’d said it.’ Which would be bizarre in a playground but really weird for adults on a PLC board.

Or are you suggesting that someone is grassing on people critical of the board to the board?

Erm, didn’t the PLC board release a statement that talked about NP and this thread? Please, do enlighten me as to how they can do that without reading this thread?

I'm not claiming anything. I read the posts that appear to have something new to say and ignore the rest.

    To add to that:
    1. WSR Policy 11, Disciplinary Procedure and WSR Policy 22, Grievance Procedure : "The Procedure applies to all paid and voluntary staff engaged in the activities of the West Somerset Railway PLC:" It then goes on to include the WSRA, WSSRT, DEPG and the S&DRT within these policies.:
    2. WSR Policy number 43 WSR Whistle Blowing Policy: "All members of staff, including volunteers, temporary and agency staff, as well as contractors working on the Railway may use this policy".
    I could go on but.....

Use the ignore button, makes more sensible reading then.

To answer your initial question, yes, they've said so in one of their statements, and they're clearly rattled by the criticism. Good. We also have 3 WSR trustees of one denomination or another who regularly post on here.

On a broader point addressed to you, @torgormaig and others, what gets posted on this thread *does* make a difference. Without this thread, an awful lot fewer people would know about the issues on the WSR, and they are issues that need raising. Even just reading the press releases by each side I feel I have a better understanding from the posts on here.

Further to that, a lot of the posts here are generated by people like yourselves who come along and all us "what's the point?" Or even put forward a counter-argument. Traffic on this thread would have been a lot lower over the last couple of days if it wasn't taken up with posts asking why we bother followed by posts replying as to why we bother! (like this one!!).

All that said, I will admit to perhaps posting on here more than I need to. I do find the whole thing rather compelling though, and ultimately, I do *care* about the future of the WSR, even if I'm not a direct supporter, and feel strongly that a lot of things aren't right at the moment.

Folk who think this thread is pointless are welcome to not visit it, I don't visit some entire sections of this forum because I know they're of no interest to me.

There are a lot of threads on Nat Pres I dont visit, it doesnt mean that I think there is anything wrong with them, its just that the subject matter doesnt grab me.

I would not 'knock' those discussing alcohol, football or whatever its just that I dont drink or like football................

I wasn't thinking of myself - I can happily ignore it. I was thinking more of the mod team, and also for the hardcore posters on here who go round in circles who seem to think they're achieveing something by ranting in this thread. They even suggested to me that I should read all the posts to find out what's happening - thanks, guys. <whoosh!>

I'm not sure anyone can say that the management team is "rattled" because they have criticised the discussion on here. This thread is hardly "balanced" - it's just a group of people finding ways to criticise, thinking that they can somehow influence decisions or change the course of developments. I'm not sure how many internet forums have successfully been used to overturn decisions like this. I would suggest a more measured, edited and direct approach. Oh, and give the mod team a break!

I'm sorry but I found that video really depressing. It did not make me want to donate and more gave the impression that the railway has already closed for good. It only missed out having tumbleweed blowing down the road!!

I'm inclined to agree. Everyone knows what it's like currently and that's not a good image. Something that reminds everyone of what it's all like on a good day and with some lively music doesn't prevent the message getting across. "This is what it's normally like. This is what we want to do for you again. But it's all at risk unless you can give us a little help etc etc."

But don't ask me. I only have two advertising professionals in the family!

Yes a strange choice of images. Most of the railway ones showing scenes with no people and the "happy scenes" mainly of non railway areas.
I thought the start looked a bit like some post apocalyptic Minehead, still everyone to their own I suppose.

Indeed. And someone actually went out to shoot all that when I'm sure the WSR has a a whole library of great images and videos from the good times that someone could have edited into a nice little publicity and donation appeal. But as @Gladiator 5076 says, each to their own.

Music doesn't go down well with some people!! ;)

I'm not sure why it would need to be "balanced" when clearly wrongs have been done. Saying we're "finding ways to criticise" is I think unfair, the WSR is proving quite capable of supplying its own actions for criticism, no need to go looking. And of course, I think most members of the old "reform group" during the X6 days would agree that NatPres was pretty essential for getting the eventual result. Not only was it about gathering support from people who might not ordinarily have known, but it pushed the X6 who read this thread to publish more and more sillier things to try and counteract it, that no doubt further helped persuade folk as to the rights and wrongs of the situation.

I have to agree, it's not a very inspiring video, and the morbid music doesn't do it any favours.

I can kind of see what they were going for, but I don't think they managed to pull it off. It might have worked better with those desolate scenes and music for the first 30s or so, and then a "but with your support"... followed by some brighter music and footage of happier times. Just an 'umble opinion, and I am so very 'umble. :)

To illustrate how to do it, perhaps West Somerset should look towards Dorset.....and all done during lockdown.
