Thanks, my fault for trying to do it quickly while cooking dinner. I'll amend it.

Are there any lines that are actively saying they're still open? ESR have got their gala this weekend, and the ELR have said they're still planning to run services.

As it is a service published in the public timetable, perhaps different criteria apply to heritage railways closing for the duration.

    Cheers, Neil

Chinnor, who were still planning on running on Mother’s Day before closing, have now announced cancellations on Mother’s Day too.

With the suspension of schools for the indefinite future, there are going to be lots of bored kids out there looking for something to do. Sadly, some of them will think that trespass and vandalism is an 'okay' thing to do, especially if they plaster it all over social media. If at all possible, ensure there is adequate protection for your assets, even if means asking for volunteers to 'guard' stored coaching stock and station buildings. A deterrent is better than arake of vandalised coaches or a ransacked station.

Yes this is also an open ticket for thieves, I hope every railway/one has extra security measures in place!

    Edited:

The Bluebell Railway has announced it is suspending its train services and closing until further notice.

The heritage steam railway in Sussex had originally decided to stay open and run a minimal service this weekend with enhanced health protection measures in place but now says the national and global situation with coronavirus means it will have to close.

Bluebell Railway plc chairman Chris Hunford said: “The health, safety and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers and visitors remains our priority.”

He added: “Some people have been calling up asking if we’re open and saying they still intend to travel this weekend although several people have also called asking to defer their bookings. Taking all this into account and the latest Government advice, we have decided to suspend all services this weekend and the railway will close until further notice.”

During the closure, there will be no trains running and the shop and catering outlets will not be open to visitors although the railway’s online shop will continue to trade.

Mr Hunford said the railway would keep the situation under constant review in the coming days and weeks and assess the situation as it evolves.

And I think that, given tonight's government update, you'd be hard pressed to find any railway staying open in any capacity other than as a takeaway restaurant!

The East Lancs Railway appears to be going against the tide and running a service.

Don't be surprised if they issue a notice to the contrary - their last social media post was before the government announcement today.

They need to do some quick thinking then. They are even still advertising a guided real ale trail tomorrow with pub lunch included.
