thank you Gladiator - I am confident that these are most probably from 1996 - one of my many 'pop-ins' to Ropley as I used to regularly pass that way on business in Petersfield.
    Foliage also suggests early spring-time.

Great set of photos. Always nice to see photos taken from Horse lane. The chap who keeps the undergrowth under control at Wanders curve would be delighted to see these photos.

Footage from Sunday of Scotsmans last day of running, seen in a mix of some terrible weather and brilliant sunshine!

Morning all. I see that Mid Hants is running all six Bulleid coaches with the S15 and "Cheltenham" this weekend. If there is anyone knowledgeable enough to answer my following queries I be forever grateful.
    1) Will the 6 coaches be running in one fill set or split into two?
    2) What day is 506 doing the Bulleid set (I am eagerly waiting to get behind it up Alton Bank) ?
    3) There is also a diesel in service yet no confirmation yet on what one, does anyone know what one it maybe?
    4) I see there is also a Countryman running. Due to leave Alresford at 13:00. Does anyone know what time it comes through Ropley on the outward and return journeys? I expect it will be hauled by 76017, can anyone clarify?

    Thanks in advance all

    Magical thing this internet...

Most of the questions answered in here. I think the Countryman is attached to what will be the 1315 looking at this timetable.

Running early after missing out the scheduled stops at Bentley and Farnham, 60103 Flying Scotsman climbs the hill to Aldershot this morning after completing her very successful visit to the Mid Hants Railway.
There was a very large gathering on this bridge to watch her pass:

And a short video of 60103 working up the hill with a long whistle from the crew to the assembled crowd on the bridge:

You can have too much of Flying Scotsman, stayed away from the Mid Hants this last week or so will start going back now as I prefer seeing the home fleet in action. :)

Each to his own but what a strange attitude to take. I visited last Sunday and enjoyed both the Scotsman and the home fleet. Best of both worlds IMO.

I guess I can see both sides of this debate. I would have gone last weekend if I had been well enough more as record than any great love of FS. To me this weekend is more interesting with a decent rake of Bulleid coaches, although I suspect I will have to miss that as well.
I personally have no antagonism to LNER locos but really those bigger than a B1 do very little for me (No 9 in its workstained condition excluded)

For so long as there's room for both, where's the problem? Personally, I got a bit 'Scotsmaned out' a few decades ago (and from all accounts, Papyrus was the best of the lot anyway!), but if the punters who intially come to see this icon later come back to travel behind the home fleet .... 'win-win'. Saul Goodman! :)

Sorry Gladiator, I only unliked your post as on re-reading I did'nt think a like was appropriate due to you not being so chipper.
However I am so looking forward to seeing and travelling with Cheltenham with her six Bulleids, pinkies crossed for Saturday, and for my tuppence worth I have never been mad keen on LNER engines, the general styling just does'nt please the eye of this beholder. That said, I would put the V2 and P2 in around my top ten best looking locos :Saywhat: tis a fickle hobby :),

    Best Wishes,

    Chris
