    Goods Galore Gala – 28th and 29th March 2020
Our goods-themed showcase of how Britain's railways moved goods around the country, becoming a lifeline to towns and villages ahead of the age of mass road transportation.
Goods Galore takes place earlier in 2020 on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March.

Expect to see up to 6 goods trains (5 goods train sets and 1 parcels train which also carries passengers) in service alongside a very frequent passenger service, shunting demonstrations, and turntable demonstrations.

Don't think they normally have any guests as the focus is on the "goods" aspect.

I thought so but would have been nice. The GCR does have a good fleet of engines based at the line currently and the wagon fleet the line has really makes it a fantastic attraction. Add in some transition diesels and your onto a winner. I would not repeat the cavalcade event though.

I would like to see the loco cavalcade once again?

I thought last year that the idea of a cavalcade was a bit naff but then on the day I filmed the convoy as it was passing. Surprisingly, I've added the sequence to my film of the gala and each time I watch the clip I thoroughly enjoy it. It's probably the enthusiasm of the crews with all seven locos blowing their whistles as they pass. It also brings back memories of the early 60s when locos returned to shed after completing their daily duties. <BJ>

The Autocar seems to be getting a lot of use at the GCR!

Odd to have a goods event and not use the 8F or 9F...

I spotted in the latest RM that the 8F is a guest at the SVR gala in April - Perhaps it is heading off there for a bit longer, so may have left by the GCR goods event?

Trains still running but the Goods Galore Event is Postponed due to Coronavirus situation. Sad but sensible.
