Yes - on top of Bridge 7 - except that hardly anyone knows where that is.

My video and a couple photos from the event! Safe to say I was in my element considering my love of these engines!

Pictures from yesterday, after this I enjoyed the final journey up to Ipstones with the 3 S160s on the front. As the guard said over the tannoy, the longest and most powerful train the preserved CVR has ever ran.

First train of the day approaches Consall, 2253 on the front.

2253 on the final stretch into Ipstones, on the very windswept Moorlands.

6046 & 5197 distrubing the peace just North of Consall.

Has anyone else known other heritage railways doing triple headed tender locos events maybe apart from industrial heritage lines on nat pres occasionally triple heading industrial tanky locos, the last train up ipstones was very fantastic with plenty of racket coming off the 3 S160 s and also my 1st experience at such a event put on at a heritage line.

Very enjoyable visit today, our first visit for nearly a decade. Apparently this gala is also their most successful for 10 years, so well done Churnet Valley. Hopefully the proceeds will put them well on the way to Leek. This is a railway with enormous potential and I can't help thinking that making it to Leek will have a 'Broadway' effect on the line. The scenery is up there with the likes of the NYMR.

Triple-headed Black 5s and GWR Manors have been done elsewhere if I remember correctly.

Had a very enjoyable day out on the CVR today, my first visit for a few years. Excellent performances from all three locos, taking the gradient up to Ipstones and a decent length train in their stride and all the volunteers we spoke to were typically friendly and enthusiastic. It was lovely to see every departure exceptionally busy, I hope the coffers have been well filled as a result.

One of the staff reckoned the 11:30am on Saturday had 450 passengers on board. The 09:15 today had an on train collection which raised £200 alone according to another - overall the staff I spoke with seemed very pleased with the response.
