Sadly the situation couldn't be retrieved because the available stock was at Froghall and the ballast was washed away between the running of 33102 to inspect the line and the three locos discovering the gap en route to Froghall. In fairness the trio were displayed at Cheddleton's platform where many people were turning up as I left at 10:00, but with no stock to haul there was little else they could do. The flood also means cancellation of Sunday's Driver Experience whilst affecting the possible moves of both 2253 for transfer and the stock to Cheddleton; hopefully the water won't reach above the running boards.

Regarding the movement of Omaha to Dartmouth, back in the day before the line had opened to Froghall was stock loaded/unloaded at Cheddleton or Leekbrook? I seem to recall that it was one or the other, but the Froghall extension gave the CVR an easier option. And would it still be possible to load/unload at the northern end of the line?

We can indeed load/unload from Cheddleton. It’s just very much unpreffered by us, the hauliers and the local residents due to the tightness of some of the curves through Basford...

An announcement will be made later this week. We just need a chance to speak to all concerned parties and to formulate a plan. Rest assured we won’t be put off by yesterday and we are certain we will be running our Santa season as planned.

No need to speculate on anything / everything else until then.

OK so with repairs complete, and a red S160 hire period extended, lets go again!

    Super Power: Take 2
    1 / 2 February 2020

    https://www.churnetvalleyrailway.co.uk/events/super-power-weekend-take-2.html

Now extended to cover an entire weekend, this will be 2253 final appearances at CVR before continuing on to Dartmouth as originally planned.

    The Script remains the same.
    • 2253 joins Batt Holden 5197 and 6046.
    • 4x non-stop return trips each day, Froghall to Ipstones.
    • Boarding only possible at Froghall.
    • All fare income, and cafe sales go towards Reconnect Leek (watch out in the New Year for more on this).
    • Final train will see all 3x S160s triple head an 8x coach special with a pair of Cromptons on the back adding weight.

It's been one unexpectedly busy down period, but we as a railway are getting there. Please support us where you can, I've said many times things are going to get exciting at CVR and they slowly are. We might be a small railway, but we have bags of character.

    Tickets available for advance purchase.

There will also once again be a morning shoot, with the sheds open from 7am for a separate £5 donation towards the cause :)

How does that work then? Walk round to Cheddleton shed armed with camera & high vis or is there a need to book in advance?

    Thanks

Just turn up at Cheddleton, and from 7am we will let you in. If you have a Orange hi-vis it would be appreciative.

Hope to see plenty of people out supporting us. Remember this is our first public chance to show support for Reconnect Leek.

All proceeds from this event will be going into the next phase for the extension to Leek. Further events in 2020 are to be announced later also, but for now lets make this weekend the best we can :)

A warning to anyone coming later today - it is incredibly busy! Standing room only on the train 15 minutes before departure and parking problematic!

My footage of 2253 omaha at kingsley froghall halt caught a ride behind her at last after 2253 failing at 2019 N.Y.M.R. autumn gala, trains today at standing room only on the 11:30am dep froghall looks like the super power event take 2 has attracted alot of enthusiasts and families alike interested in trains on the C.V.R. today

Video of the first run up to Ipstones today with two S160s - 2253 Omaha leading, with 6046 on the back.
The clip is more about the sound of the locos working hard than the picture. Wind the volume up and listen !!

So at around about 16.25pm the sight and sounds of Three S160's reverberated throughout the Staffordshire Moorlands ! A completely surreal experience and I'm delighted to share it with you !
