Surprised there isn't a thread for this:

    ECS to KGX: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U54708/2019-12-07/detailed

    Outward: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U54704/2019-12-07/detailed

    ECS to Lincoln Terrace: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U54705/2019-12-07/detailed

    ECS back to Lincoln: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U54706/2019-12-07/detailed

    Return: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U54707/2019-12-07/detailed

    ECS to Southall: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U54709/2019-12-07/detailed

No LE moves in/out of KGX. With 6233 seemingly failed, any ideas what could haul the trip instead? A Riley Five? Load is 11, according to the e-Ticket.

6233 hasn't failed, are you thinking of 60009 or 61306

No. From the Swanage - Bath/Bristol thread:

It's a shame 6233 isn't available for the Swanage trip. Does anyone know what's wrong and whether it's fixable before Friday? If not, could either Ian Riley or Carnforth make something else available? It will depend on gauging, of course. Has anything else been that way in the last 6 months or so? Usually, 2 locos are gauged for each tour. I wonder what the alternative loco requested for the Lincoln route was?

The only locos I can recall that have been to Lincoln this year that RTC can use are 44871 (busy on NVR) and 6233.

They could always ask for Clan Line that should still be warm after the Belmond Pullman on the previous Friday. (Sorry, that was a joke. :))

I believe you can have three locos on the NR application. I suspect one would have been 60009 not sure what the other would have been.
Things always seem to get tight for the Christmas trips but the unavailability of the Black 5's and the fragmentation of the loco pools aligning with different TOC's seems to have made it even worse this year.

Or Mayflower could be available, since she based at Southall?

Mayflower is owned by the man who runs Steam Dreams so I doubt he will allow it out on a rival tour, plus it's got boiler problems at the moment.

He’s been quoted in the recent past that Mayflower is available to other tour operators. He wants it to earn its keep not necessarily always with Steam Dreams.

Railway Herald reporting 6233 unavailable for mainline tours until the new year due to "issues".

Certainly feel sorry for the Duchess team, what was gonna be a busy month for them has now gone down the pan. Also leaves RTC without motive power on a couple of tours.

If that's the case then it would be wise for the RTC to pull the plug on its pre Christmas programme where steam is not guaranteed. They will gain no friends for pressing on regardless with compromise diesel substitutions in my view.

For example, if you want to do the Lindum Fayre then you can do it with UKRT for £70 rather than £100 with the RTC or even less on a service train.

All very sad and nobody's 'fault' but when the circumstances change so must the thinking.

The plan is to have repairs to No.9’s tender completed and for it to substitute for ‘Duchess’ on Saturday’s Lincoln train. A lot of work has gone on, quickly and without any fuss, to ensure steam haulage is still possible.

The Swanage train has, however, already been cancelled.

Perhaps it would have been wise to await an announcement from WCRC/RTC before making the above pronouncement. :)
