As far as I can tell the damage relates to one particular stretch of track where the line runs parallel to the Canal just south of Consall.

I'm aware that management are onto this and that there are plans afoot to undertake repairs very soon and that the railway is expecting to run it's Santa services as per usual. Fingers crossed hey?

Hope so, we were on the train at Froghall waiting for the locomotives to arrive when they announced that they couldn’t get through. Such a shame for the fundraising event and everyone involved. I knew the track was likely to have been damaged so we decided to donate our fare. Luckily we live local so didn’t have far to travel, but I think most were very understanding.

Me too, there I was thinking where's the engine, check the time - it's 9.22, and then the fateful announcement. I was gutted because 2253 Omaha would be a cop loco for me. I almost copped it at the NYMR Gala but it failed, then I heard it was coming to "my" railway. OK I thought I'll cop it this time - but no! I also decided not to get my £20 back for the same reason as you.

Given that the loco is stranded at Chedd I wonder if the CVR could "re-stage" the gala once the repairs are completed..... hmmmm, finger crossed

Me and my wife went to Cheddleton to see the locomotives, well worth it despite getting soaked.

Stoke Sentinel reports that the CVR estimate that the repairs should take about a week, and be completed well in time for the Santa Specials

Watch out for a series of press releases over the coming days. Things are being delayed as a number of us volunteers are on holiday at various points over the next week or so as the CVR should of stopped running trains come Wednesday for the season. But we are getting there.

Repairs are known, an action plan is being agreed. We are just waiting for final costs.

Santa & Steam will run as planned.

3x S160s has not been forgotten about.

A lot has happened in the last 48 hours, with even more to happen over the oncoming days.

We will need your help. There’s no hiding this. Please be prepared to support where you can, it will all be appreciated.

The flood damage at Consall has now been repaired and the track is as good as before (probably better) and all ready for the santa specials. Still need to pay for the work so see Lil Bears post above.
This week we were able to get a vehicle beyond Consall and were able to correct the cant and dip in a stretch of track near Iron Bridge.

This week was a continuation of last week's task, sorting out dips and twists near Iron Bridge. A big turnout of OAPway but that meant some could have a rest between shovelling ballast.

This is a screenshot from Facebook. Will there be any update so that there isn't more speculation?

In my book, a steam loco arriving at a new railway is something to announce! ;) But seriously, this is good news, I look forward to seeing 44422 in action on the CVR. What's the current state of repair? I seem to recall it was waiting for a wheel repair when it was stopped on the WSR?

Was it that all 6 driving wheels had cracks in them and either needed welding up or replacement driving wheels before 44422 could be run again?

The boiler is, yes. It was overhauled in time for a return to steam in 2016 for the S&D gala at the WSR, but I recall it was known at the time that the bottom end had not had too much work done on it and more would be needed.

I just hope they won't be wanting 80136 back as well in 8 years time!

That's owned by the charity the "class 4 preservation Trust". Would be nice, but I'm sure they are very happy up at the moors.
