If they run a peep behind the scenes or the members weekend you can usually get a tour of the shed as part of it, maybe useful to you but the next ones wouldn’t be until next year now.

Indeed, I've never been available on those weekends but I've always wanted to go.

Last 'Peep' was 2017. Open House Weekend still runs, usually April but events in 2020 might change due to the later Spring Steam Gala, itself a result of the Falling Sands Viaduct works next winter.

You don't happen to have the proposed date for the Spring Gala do you?

Just a few thoughts on the shed. Firstly for fire protection its two sheds. There is a firewallbetween CS 2 / 3 and CS 4/5. There are access doors in the firewall

CS2 the pit road, is probably slightly longer than 8 MK 1, which is the front of the shed .Each of the 4 roads has at least another 6 coaches, could be more, in the back of the shed.

The shed has its own toilet and messing fscilities

First weekend of April I think.
The third weekend of April, but don't hold me to that. For reference Easter is the second weekend.

For info, on the SVR Forum one of the marketing group says not all events dates are confirmed, but should be later this month.

A note regarding the locomotives rostered for week ending Friday, 1st November.

''Note that the planned use of diesel loco 40.106 this week has had to be changed due to problems with the steam heat boiler. All its turns are steam-hauled this week''.

Unfortunately this is the same problem that the loco suffered from last winter. <BJ>

Here is an updated album of photos, mainly by Les Tindall, of the SVR 1975 - 1981. I have added 18 photos he took in April 1977 which include eight locos that are now out of use:

Here are photos I took last May, mainly in the Engine House where many of the locos seen at work in Les's 1977 photos are now on display:
