Speeding towards Gobowen on the outward with a drifting exhaust. As @3ABescot said, typical I choose Shinfal over Wellington for once and she doesn't take the slow line! DSC_4158 (2).JPG 70000.JPG

I have seen that happen. I guess it depends on the signaller and maybe their workload.
Out of interest, the preceding WM stopper is shown on RTT as 7 minutes late leaving Oakengates, so must still have been there when 70000 passed Wellington, thus delaying 70000 all the way to Oxley.

Yes, a rather uncouth gentleman walked from the down side across the tracks to the up at Wellington to board that proceeding 170 along with myself. I informed the guard and it turns out the man didn’t have a ticket either, so he was escorted off the train and station at Oakengates by another passenger. That’s what made it rather interesting with the signalman sending 70000 on the UML considering she was right on our tail, I would have expected the usual up platform switch.

Ah, someone said they'd seen a man walk across the track. ( let's keep that discussion away from this thread ! )

In terrible conditions, Dull and wet, Britannia accelerates centre road through Stafford having just crossed over from the slow line to fast line while working 5Z70, 08.32 Crewe to East Grinstead in readiness for its appearance at the Bluebell railway and railtour duties in the south. 7/10/19. It belongs to one of the support crew who had it made specially. IMO, he puts enough hours into the loco allowing it to run all over the country and looks authentic so can't see it as an issue. He also put it on No.9 on the run to Bristol last November too.

Yes, I filmed the train on the return at Keynsham on 24th November. I thought the headboard looked superb.

No.9 is one engine that I shall miss very much when it leaves the big railway. <BJ>

Flying Scotsman arrived at Carnforth tonight under its own steam from the NRM.

Separately, I have heard a vague report that an unidentified Bulleid left Steamtown by road on the 4th. I know no more but if true I wonder if the loco could have been 34073.

Pretty sure the frames of 34073 (I assume they were hers anyway, they looked ex Barry which discounted Tangmere or Bodmin?) were visible where they have been for ages adjacent to the shed on the WCML side at the southern end of the site when we passed by train yesterday afternoon.

Could it be the tender from Tangmere returning after loan to the ELR?

I see 44871 has moved to Carnforth today and accompanied 45407 to Hellifield ready for tomorrow.
