you may well be right, I can remember seing Linda in dark green on the railway, and I think I may have got confused, because I can remember Austin spraying an Austerity up in bright green, shortly after it was converted to Thomas, later on, a second Austerity was purchased, to provide an additional Thomas, but it was later decided a second Thomas wasn't needed, but the boilers were swooped, when Thomas's 10 year came due to keep him available for hire, and the second engine became Douglas.

Indeed it was and Hams Hall Power Station before that. https://www.svrwiki.com/Peckett_1738 The photo in the link shows it as returned to steam after extensive boiler works carried out at Statfold Barn. My comment referred to its hire period as Percy.

Ivatt and 9F were both on fine form on Monday, so I see no reason why that ought to change.

Unless someone goes and breaks one of them!

Latest Beano reports that the MHR General Manager departs at the end of August, having been in post for around 12 months.
    Following a growing trend??

It was a hot day atop the hill yesterday, but enough of us were mad enough to turn up & put a shift in in the heat! :Saywhat:

Though I suspect a few were there to have a jolly behind the newly arrived class 20........ :Shifty: which looks right at home. :)

Still, despite the heat & folks going of on a jolly, more progress was made on the Gunpowder Van, though working on the roof, either inside or out, was not pleasant, but that said, the roof exterior is now up to 2nd undercoat & the inside is now up to 2nd gloss - its starting to look more like a GPV and if the weather holds over the next few months, great strides will probably be made......... :Nailbiting:

It was also nice to see the trains well patronised with Joe Public enjoying themselves.

Even the Footplate crews were smiling! :Jawdrop:

Any way, a few of yesterdays goings on......

A good day atop the hill yesterday & more temperate than last week - so more progress made on the Gunpowder Van & some TLC was starting to be applied to the two plank in Bennett's & the trains were full of happy families.

Popped down to Ropley afterwards to see what was what..... 47 579 had returned from its jolly to Mangapps, earlier in the day & was stabled in the Up yard, a couple of stalwarts were fettling bits of 499 - don't know what as they were busy & I didn't ask......925 it seems. nears a return to traffic, as does 50 027 - bumped into the main man himself - he hopes that Lion will be back in traffic by the end of the month, if not October..... but to make it happen, help of a physical or financial nature would always be most welcome! ;) :)

Also paid a visit to Alresford to see who was about for the evening & was pleased to see that the clientele of the RAT were taking advantage of photo opportunities on the footplate of 506 & even the signalbox was proving to be a popular destination, much to the delight of the 'Lady of the Levers'! :Jawdrop: :)

A few pics from the evening.

Here is a TV alert for a documentary featuring the MHR which is being shown on the Yesterday channel this Thursday night at 9pm. The series Train Truckers is about the Allelys haulage firm. I guess that the locos being moved to the MHR in this episode (Episode 3) are 5199 & 7822
Edit: Episode 4 next week also features the MHR with 73096 being moved about

The promotional material certainly seemed to feature 7822 and 5199.

As its members weekend this Sat & Sun, that means only one thing.......

The hardy souls in the Wagon Group will have their sales stand at Medstead, full of goodies you want & things you didn't know you needed, but you do! ;):)

It will located in the BY van C in the dock platform, so that you can view the restoration progress up close & personal & ask questions, whilst we help you spend the contents of you wallet! :Saywhat: Also along side the BY will be the gunpowder van, looking a damn sight better than it did 6 months ago..... :D
